Chapter 14
Grace kept her gaze on Theo, her breathing a little faster than normal as they listened to what sounded like scraping along the dirt outside their tent and noises of clicking and grinding teeth. It made the hair on her arms stand up as the movements got closer to their tent opening.
Theo kept watching the shadows outside, these vampires weren't truly vampires anymore.. Not in the sense that someone would believe. They had lost all their cognitive abilities like thinking and talking, memories seemed to be gone and it was almost like the person had left the lights on and gone out. Their body vacant of the soul, whatever bit of humanity was gone.
Their only drive was to feed and since they were banished from human land they had turned to feeding on each other until there wasn't many left. The Elders had retreated to their castle, taking some 'worthy' vampires with them in hopes to over throw humans once more but the vampire race was close to becoming extinct.
Their bodies nothing but grey bags of bone, no shape difference between man or woman.. Their head had little hair left, burning red eyes lit their features as did their sharpened teeth whilst they continued to search for whatever had just been nearby.
Slowly footsteps could be heard retreating and so could the scraping and clattering of teeth, Slowly Theo moved his hand from her mouth and looked at her with intense golden orbs.
"What the fuck was that?" Grace whispered harshly, Theo frowned for a moment. She deserved to know the truth about how half of her own kind was left to rot, tossed aside like she once was, would she care? He had no idea.
"They are vampires.. Or more what is left of them..- They are blood starved, some kind of evolution has made them almost zombie like, no one comes to these lands" He told her as he moved to sit down on the ground with a sigh.
Her scent was overwhelming and from stealing a glance in her direction he saw the water running down the valley of her breasts towards her navel, his wolf rumbling at the thought of claiming her right there. He had to refrain, he didn't know what she knew or didn't know of this new world.
"What happened? How long was i gone for?"
She whispered and Theo couldn't help but sigh as he moved closer, his fingers brushing the hood down so he could look at her better.
"Long enough for the world to know about us all..-" He replied as his fingers brushed through her wet locks and let them go. He turned his attention to the bag digging out a shirt for her and another cloak.
"It's too late for us to catch up to Monte, we can make it out tomorrow at first light, we should get you warmed up and rested" He said as he offered the clothes to her.
Grace glanced down to them, taking them from him, their hands brushing and she instantly felt that tingle shoot up her spine, a tug on her heart reminding her that the bond was still there; lingering in waiting to be reformed. Her emerald hues looked up to meet his golden ones. His stare was calm as he watched.
"Theo about before..— I'm sor–"
She was cut off when his mouth collided with hers, the clothes falling into a pile between them. His large hands grasped her small waist instantly lifting her onto his lap as one hand soon moved up to grasp the back of her skull, threading into her wet locks as his tongue forced itself into her mouth.
Her own stroked against his as her heart began to hammer against its cavity, her body heating up and her inner wolf purring loudly. A whimper of protest escaped Grace when he pulled away to rest his forehead against hers gently.
"You don't ever apologise to me, Grace. You're back, that is all that matters...-" His words rumbled through him as his right hand lifted to stroke across her cheek lightly. A small smile appeared across the female's brims.
"Now, get dry and let's get some sleep—" He forced the words out, gaining control over himself once more despite the throb that came from his cock, God he wanted her so bad but he would wait, wait until she was ready.
