After Grace had gotten changed Theo went out to collect wood and to also set up a protection perimeter around their small gap, just incase those vampires decided to come creeping back.
The fire was burning away just a few feet away from the tent as he poked at it with a stick, embers burning away as the flames licked up towards the night sky, he could hear Grace moving around in the tent, no doubt making space for them to sleep since he just dumped everything in there. She still had the obsessive need to clean up.
He chuckled to himself as he opened the bag next to him pulling out some beer bottles and set them on the ground just as he heard the tent open and close, he glanced over his shoulder to see Grace coming to join him, at least now dry and clothed in an overly large shirt.
His wolf hummed happily at the smell of her as she came closer, his large hand grasped at her waist and pulled her onto his lap without protest from the petite femme. His nose instantly burying itself into her locks as he inhaled her honeydew scent.
"You have no idea how much I missed you...-" He whispered to her, feeling her frame relaxing more into his much larger one. His left hand grabbed a beer bottle. Callous digits opened the lid before offering it to her and her hand wrapped around the bottle, lifting it up to inspect it.
"They put beers into bottles now? What was wrong with going to a tavern?" She asked and Theo chuckled softly shaking his head gently.
"People still go to them.. They are called bars and clubs, not taverns and they sell those so people can drink in their own home or out with friends..-" He said to her, watching her fingers move over the label before she lifted it to her mouth and took a sip.
A sudden noise of disgust rose through her and she spat into the ground, A rumble of a laughter rose through Theo who took the bottle from her.
"Not a fan?"
"No that was disgusting...– Ugh, how can someone drink something so bitter!?"
Grace asked as she looked up to him, Theo simply grinned at her. "You have no idea how much things have changed since...—"
He trailed off when he noticed her expression turn into sadness and she looked away for a moment. "How long was I gone?" She asked quietly.
"Five centuries.. Almost six" He admitted after a moment of debating, his fingers moved to gently brush over her cheek, almost fearing that someone would snatch her away again at any given moment without warning.
"Fuck... That is so long to be gone" She whispered, Theo nodded gently before leaning in, pressing a kiss to the top of her head and tightened his arms around her, pulling her in closer than before almost crushing her against him.
"You're back now and I won't let you go, I promise Grace I will kill anyone who tries to take you away, I failed you before, I won't do it again" He promised.
Silence filled the space between the pair as they sat and simply stared at the flames, protected from the outside world, for now at least.
