Luz p.o.v
i spent over an hour thinking of a name, i even used google. which, by the way, didn't help at all. i sigh as i roll onto my back. i was writing down a bunch of names on a piece of paper on my floor. none of them sounded cool. and when they did sound cool they were already taken. i run my hands down my face and groan, i hear a knock at my door.
without any warning or me saying anything Eda and her dog come in. "when you getting ready kid?" she asks going and sitting on my bed. King jumps up on my bed and sits there too.
"it's only eight." i tell her looking over to her, still sprawled on the floor.
"what's all that for?" Eda questions pointing at my crumbled pieces of papers and pens.
"i'm trying to come up with a name, but it's fucking stupid since i can't think of anything and then google ain't doing shit to help me." i complained to her sitting up, picking up one of the papers and tossing it to her.
"yeah these are horrible." she snorts laughing, heat started to rise to my face out of embarrassment.
"shut it old lady." i tell her turning away.
"why not just use my old bands name? we're all broken up so you could just use it." she offered crossing her legs.
"the 'Bad Witch Coven'?" i question turning back to her trying to remember what she told me about it.
"Bad Girl Coven." she corrects deadpanned.
"right, right." i say holding up my finger. i lay back down on the ground. "kinda sounds old though."
"better than these shitty names you got on here." she mocks crumbling the paper back up and tossing it, hitting my face.
"ow." i get startled as the paper hit my face. i grab it and throw it behind me. "ugh fine, we'll use your name." i say rolling my eyes.
"perfect kid. now get ready." she says getting up and leaving the room, King following right behind. she didn't even close the door.
i ended up choosing to wear a black tee shirt with 'be better' printed on it, a pair of ripped blue jeans, black and white vans, and a black beanie. since i knew it was going to be cold so i brought my usual olive green jacket. i rolled myself a blunt before heading downstairs and put it in a container, then putting it in my pocket. i walk down the stairs and see Eda in a suit. "what's with the getup?" i joked looking at her.
"i'm going to talk to the owner about getting us a gig once we form a band." she tells me adjusting her suit.
"ah so you're going to try and seduce him to give us a gig?" i asked raising an eyebrow in amusement. she holds up finger guns and clicks her tongue.
"just kidding! i've known that asshole for years." she rolls her eyes, putting her hands on her hips. "his name is Tibblet-Tibblie Grimm Hammer the Third. he goes by Tibbles. his family had owned it since the nineteen-thirties."
i laugh at the name while she turns around and grabs her keys. she tells us we're leaving and we head out. we hop in her car and drive to our location, wherever the hell that is. we park in a parking lot in town. we get out and we start to walk down a alley. "you sure you're not taking me somewhere to kill me?" i joke, my hands in my pockets walking behind the old woman in front of me.
"not this time." she jokes, "it's just that no one is allowed to park near the building so it's not suspicious. ah here it is." we walk down a set of stairs and a buff guy is standing in front of it smoking a cigarette.
"hey Eda." he greets holding out his hand.
"hey Warden." she tells him putting a ten dollar bill in his hand. he unlocks the door and opens it. we both enter. i was in awe. it was practically a club. the place packed; people dancing, bartenders, security guards, overly amount of drunk people, performers. it was awesome. we didn't have these in my hometown. Eda grabs me by the sleeve and drags me to the bar, once over there she grabs me by the shoulders and sits me down on a barstool. she hands me a twenty and hits me on the back. "stay here, have fun, don't die, don't do coke in the bathroom. i'm going to go talk to Tibbles."
A bartender walks up and asked if i wanted anything. "just a beer is fine." i tell her handing her the twenty. she gives me a nod and then comes back with my change and a beer. i must be in heaven.
"you need anything just let me know, the names Viney by the way." she tells me.
"answer my question for me, who's playing next?" i ask seeing the band packing up some things and walking off stage.
"this one green haired chick is supposed to be playing next." she explained. "she's really good." i give her a nod and thank her, she then walks off to another person at the barstools.
a man comes out, "now everyone we got our special lady out here tonight preforming Olivia Rodrigo's song 'Brutal'!" everyone starts cheering. i take a drink of my beer, who the fuck would preform an Olivia Rodrigo song here?
the stage goes dark, there was a few silent moments. then a violin starts playing. "what the fuck?" i mumbled out. the lights and the back track immediately turns on and play once the violin stops playing and shows a girl with a violin, she sets it on the ground. she grabs the mic and starts singing. she was really hot. i take another drink and watch her. she had a big stage presence, she takes the mic off the stand and walks around the stage. every once and a while she bent down into the crowd and reached out to the crowd, everyone screaming when she did so. damn this girl really was liked.
the song started slowing down. she puts the mic back on the stand and grabs it with both hands, she starts singing in it softly. she was looking around the crowd, then her eyes met mine. our eyes locked in on each other. she didn't break eye contact and finished the song. she finally broke eye contact when the instrumentals ended. she looked back out and waved out to the crowd, a smile prominently on her face. everyone started roaring in screams and whistles. she picks up her violin and walks off stage.
my head was practically empty. all i kept thinking was this girl is hot and a good singer. i need her in my band.
