at my locker i got things together and gave Boshca and Skara Luz's address. they said that they carpooled to school together and would probably get coffee for everyone before showing up at the house. i wave them goodbye and head out to my car. as i exit the door to outside i hear commotion going on. i turn my head to see Luz in Hunters face. Hunter was backed up with his usual friend group.

i see Luz turn around to walk away and Hunter reaches up to grab her beanie and rips it off her head. i run up to them before anything gets out of hand, they all turn to me as i got closer to the group. Hunter seemed happy to see me and Luz looked concerned to see me walk up to them. "ah! Amity! i'm glad you're here! i was just teaching this little heathen of yours a lesson for being disrespectful." he boasts turning his full attention to me.

"give me the hat." i demanded holding out my hand to him. he looked thoroughly surprised with what i said.

"what?" he questioned me. Luz looked absolutely shocked.

"i said, give me the hat." i state firmly. he holds it out and i grab it from him, i hand it back to Luz. she then puts it back on. "don't mess with my student. i get paid for tutoring her. unless you want to start paying me for taking time away from sessions, i advise that you leave her alone and allow me to do my job." he looks at me in disbelief at what i said.

"I'm sorry Amity, i didn't know. i know you prioritize your schoolwork and what you do. i'll make sure not to pick on her while it's during your time." he apologizes, looking panicked from what i said. i let out a deep breath and get out of my defensive posture.

"thank you Hunter. i appreciate it a lot. now if you'll excuse us." i say in a formerly matter, "come on Luz, we're leaving." i turn around and walk in the direction of my car, Luz follows along. once we get out of earshot of the boys, Luz decides to speak.

"hey, thanks Ams. it means a lot you stood up for me." she tells me walking besides me. i sigh and turn to face her.

"just please, avoid him at all costs. if he sees us together too much he'll most likely bring it up to his uncle or my parents." i warn her not wanting my family to get involved. i was already exhausted as it is by the days events. she simply gives me a nod and we finish walking to my car.

we hop in and close the doors. i lean against the drivers seat and close my eyes taking a deep breath. i feel Luz's hand grab mine and intertwine our fingers. i open my eyes and turn my head towards her. she brings my hand up to her mouth and kisses the back of it. "i'm really sorry for today. i kinda feel like an asshole for stressing you out." she gives me a small smile and rubs her thumb along my hand.

"don't be sorry, none of it was your fault. you've actually helped me a lot today." i return a smile back to her and speak again. "thank you for dealing with my breakdown. today just became a crazy day for me."

"is there anything i can do to make it better? you look tired." she asks me. she really does care for me doesn't she?

"it's okay. Skara and Boshca are picking up coffee for all of us before they head over. which we should probably get going before they see we aren't even there." i mentioned, letting go of Luz's hand and grabbing my keys. i put them in the ignition and turn on the car, putting the car in drive. as i pull out of the parking lot i feel the taller girl next to me put her hand in my hair behind my head and rub her thumb behind my ear.

"you're so beautiful cariño." she tells me in a soothing voice. i feel heat rise to my face as i try to keep my eyes on the road. i hear a phone go off and Luz reaches into her pocket and answers the phone with her free hand. "hey Gus... we're almost at the house... yeah, we just got sidetracked by something... alright, we'll see you soon." she then hangs up the phone and spoke in spanish. "señor todo poderoso"

"is Gus at the house?" i asked her turning down the dirt road to her house.

"yeah, so is Willow. they said they're just chilling in Gus' car until we pull up." she says turning off her phone and putting it back in her pocket. i park behind Willow's car and take the key out of the ignition. Luz pulls her hand away from my hair and unbuckles her seatbelt, i do the same. right before i open the door Luz lightly grabs my wrist to stop me from moving. i turn my head to her as she speaks, "thank you for everything; helping make the band, saving me from beating peoples ass, and especially for putting up with my shit. i know i'm an ass usually and flirt with you all the time, even when you don't want me to, but i really care about you and your feelings."

she wouldn't make eye contact with me, which made me smile. "i like this side of you." i joke causing her blush a bit and clear her throat. i lean back toward her and reach my hand up to the side of her face. "i should be the one thanking you." i lean in and kiss her. she brings her hand up and holds mine. right when we pull away we hear a car honk, startling us. we snap our heads to the direction of the noise and see Gus in his car honking at us with his door open as Willow sat outside Gus' car chuckling, taking a video of us. we instantly let go of each other and our faces turn bright red. we get out of the car and grab our things.

that was one of the best but most embarrassing experiences ever.
