Chapter 22

Hey guys. I tried a 'flashback' scene in this chapter. Let me know if it's gross and I will never do it again :) Haha! Thank you for reading. xx

Langley was a rookie, just out of the academy, when his training officer had said something to him that he would always remember.

"If you're going to make a case, you have to cover all your bases. You may trust your gut, but you also have to prove it."

That's why he got Dr Morgan to run trace on Jasmine's clothes, that's why his was digging around in Oliver's past and that's why he sat in the hospital lobby, next to Shane Harvey.

"What was Oliver Roads relationship with Miss Raudenfeld at Hester High?" Langley asked.

"Relationship? There wasn't one," Shane said, "Amy kissed him during her homo-hetero confusion stage but other then that there was nothing."

"And yet Mr Roads seemed to develop an intense fascination with her," Langley said, raising one eyebrow.

"Yes, the boy fell hard," Shane said, "he told us once, during a drama rehearsal, that Karma was one of his 'triggers' and that he was in therapy."

"Had he ever done anything towards Amy or Karma in the past that would suggest he was capable of doing what he did?" Langley asked, writing something in his trusty notebook.

Shane didn't answer at first, he paused to think about it even though he knew what he had to say.

"There was an incident at a party once, I don't know the full details," Shane explained.

"Involving Mr Roads and Miss Raudenfeld?" Langley asked. Shane just nodded, yes.

"When was this?" Langley asked.

"Okay, let me think. Senior year, Melody Bostic hosted the biggest and best party of our generation. As I recall, Fifth Harmony played a set," Shane said, reminiscing.

"What happened at the party?" Langley prompted.

"Oh, right," Shane said, coming back to reality, "Amy was still a bit, let's say unstable after she handed Karma her heart, and she chopped it up like a spicy tuna roll. They were getting better, they were on speaking terms again, but Amy was still hurt and guilty and every emotion a girl could feel she was feeling that night. When she saw Karma kiss Liam, she kind of lost it, got totally hammered. I wasn't aware of this at the time or else I would have told her to go easy on the hard stuff."

Langley was slightly amused by Shane's rendition of the night but he needed to get to the point of the story.

"And Oliver was there?" Langley asked.

"Mmm, apparently he showed up like Prince Charming to save the damsel in distress and Amy was far too drunk to know what was happening or care for that matter," Shane continued, "I don't know what happened next, all I know is Karma found him with Amy in a bedroom or a bathroom or something, anyway shit went down."

"Are you suggesting Oliver made an attempt to have sex Amy?" Langley asked.

"Honestly, I don't know. Gay scouts honour," Shane said, holding up his right hand, "I don't think anyone but Karma really knows what happened but I doubt it was anything good. I've never seen Karma so angry."

"And Miss Raudenfeld doesn't know?" The detective said, trying to piece together the pieces.

Shane shook his head no.

"She was shielding me from this?" A voice said from behind them.

"Amy?" Shane said, standing up.
