Chapter 29

Amy stared at Karma, waiting for her to say something, do something, reassure her, anything.

"I remember," Karma whispered, eyes wide.

"I remember our kiss, we kissed, I kissed you, I remember," the words flowed out of her uncontrollably.

"Woah, hey, are you okay?" Amy asked, pulled Karma into her again.

"I'm amazing, you're amazing. Thank you," Karma said, hugging Amy tightly, burying her face into her neck.

"What do you remember exactly?" Amy pressed.

Karma explained that she remembered all their kisses and Amy started tearing up.

"Karms, that's amazing," the blonde exclaimed, pulling the other girl into her and burying her face into her hair.

"I love you," Karma whispered.

Amy pulled back so she could kiss Karma.

"I love you too, so much," Amy replied.

Karma smiled broadly before briefly looking around the room.

"Should we try and cook again?" She asked.

"How about we just go to bed?" Amy suggested, "I just want to hold you right now."

"That sounds nice," Karma said, unable to wipe the smile off her face.

Amy woke up with Karma wrapped in her arms and sighed with complete content. She didn't wake her, she just lay there watching her soulmate sleeping. For the first time in a long time, Amy Raudenfield was truly happy.

Karma stirred, opening her eyes momentarily to see Amy watching her.

"You're staring," she said, smiling and closing her eyes again.

"I can't help it, you're beautiful," Amy replied.

Karma responded by digging herself further into Amy's hold, burying her face in her chest.

They both lay there for what seemed like forever before Amy spoke.

"Would you like some breakfast?" She asked.

"I'd like some kisses," Karma replied, pouting a little.

Amy laughed and positioned herself so she could kiss Karma. Then she pulled back briefly before crashing her lips back onto Karma's. This pattern continued for quite some time before Amy suggested breakfast again and they both reluctantly got out of bed.

Amy's phone rang halfway through their bacon and egg cooking and she hurried over to answer it without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello, this is Amy," she said.

"Hello Miss Raudenfield, this is detective Langley. I'm just ringing to see how are you going," the voice on the other end replied.

"I'm going great, thank you. Never felt better," Amy said, turning to face Karma who smiled and blushed slightly.

"And how's Karma?" Langley continued.

"She's beautiful, as always," Amy said which just made Karma blush further and Langley chuckle lightly.

"You have no idea how thankful I am to hear you are both doing so well," the detective said, "it's about time you two caught a break."

"And thank you for all your help," Amy said sincerely.

"Just doing my job, ma'am," he replied.

They both said their goodbyes and hung up. Amy put her phone down and walked over to where Karma was still cooking bacon. She wrapped her arms around the younger girl and placed her head on her right shoulder, gently kissing her neck in the process.

Karma hummed and learnt into the contact before taking her eyes off the bacon to turn around and meet Amy's lips.

"God, I love this," Amy half whispered, her forehead resting on Karma's, "you make me so happy, you know that?"

Karma smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind Amy's ear before kissing her quickly.

"I don't know why it took me so long to realise you were all I ever needed or wanted," Karma said softly, "I think I was just afraid of these feelings and of what everybody else would think but I don't care anymore. You're worth everything and more to me. Amy, I'm sorry."

Tears started to form in the corners of Karma's eyes and Amy gently took her face in her hands, studying her briefly.

"It didn't matter how long we were apart or where I went, I could never get over you," Amy explained, "no matter how much I told you or myself otherwise. I think it's because a part of me always hoped you would reciprocate these feelings and this made all the waiting worth it, nothing compares to this."

"If I've learnt anything over the last few months it's that life is short and I can't believe I wasted so much time before the accident," Karma explained.

They both just held each other for a moment, breathing each other in. Eventually, Amy laughed lightly.

"What?" Karma questioned, stepping back.

"I'm just laughing at how cliche we are right now," Amy said.

Karma gave her a gentle shove before pulling herself back into Amy's chest.

"Wanna watch Netflix?" Amy suggested and Karma nodded.

The pair ate bacon and stayed curled up on the couch together for the rest of the day, and neither one of them could think of anyplace they'd rather be.
