Chapter 12

"We can stop right now if you want?" Karma said, pulling away.

Amy shook her head no and pulled the auburn haired girl back into her, meeting her lips. She tasted sweet. Amy brought her hand up to caress Karma's cheek, gently intensifying the weight of the kiss.

Amy groaned at the constant beeping sound that interrupted her make out session. She opened one eye and glared at the small device before angrily smashing her hand down on top of the alarm to silence it. She rolled over and found Karma facing her.

Amy just lay there, a hint of a smile playing on her lips as she watched Karma sleep. Her breathing was steady and she looked so peaceful. Amy had always thought that Karma looked her most beautiful in the morning and that moment just confirmed it. Gently, Amy reached across to brush a loose strand of hair out of Karma's face. Karma stirred, briefly flattering her eyes open before closing them again. A smile formed on her lips.

"You're staring," Karma mumbled.

"Oh, sorry," Amy said, turning to face the ceiling. Her voice didn't hide her nervousness at all.

"It's ok," Karma laughed and Amy turned back to face her.

The girls held each other's gaze for a few minutes, Amy not wanting to say goodbye to the beautiful hazel-green eyes that seemed to stare into her soul. Karma caught herself looking at Amy's lips for a second, but she corrected herself before the other girl noticed the movement.

In that moment, the rest of the world seemed to melt away. Karma didn't have to worry about doctors or detectives or anyone trying to hurt her. She could just be there with Amy.

"I have to go," Amy whispered.

"Do you have to?" Karma asked, pouting.

Amy smiled. Karma seemed to always know how to get what she wanted, even now, after the accident. Amy always felt a warmth in her chest when Karma looked at her like that, and usually it ended with Karma getting whatever she wanted.

"I have class," Amy said, sitting up.

"Fine. Ten more minutes?" Karma said, grabbing the corner of Amy's shirt before she could get out of the bed.

"Five more minutes," Amy laughed, laying back down on her side to face the other girl.

"Tell me a story," Karma asked quietly.

"About what?" Amy asked.

"What were we like in high school?" Karma said.

Amy broke Karma's gaze for a moment. She had known this was coming, as soon as she had told Karma the truth about Hester High.

"Karma," Amy sighed but Karma cut her off.

"Please, I want to know what happened," Karma begged, "I don't know if you know this, but I was in coma for three days."

"It was only two and a half days," Amy joked.

"Fine," Karma smiled, "but I want to know what type of a person I used to be."

"You were horrible," Amy said bluntly, "you were mean and nasty and a little egotistical."

Karma knew she was joking but pretended to be hurt. She gawked at Amy and lightly punched her arm.

"Ouch," Amy giggled.

"Seriously though," Karma said, looking down, "was I a bad person."

"No, of course not," Amy said, reaching over to tilt Karma's chin up so her eyes met Amy's gaze.
