Chapter 19
Hi guys! Thanks for being patient, sorry it's been a while but yay an update finally :P I hope you're all still here enjoying the story and I hope you all had a great Christmas with your families and a happy New Year. xx
Amy sat in the lobby of LA General hospital. She had already been there 4 hours and had heard very little from anyone about Karma. It was driving her insane. The conversation she'd had with Shane had been the second hardest thing she's ever done in her life. The hardest had been calling Karma's mother. Molly and Lucas were flying in, and would be there soon so Amy had to get her shit together before then. She knew she would have to be a rock for them but she could barely keep herself calm let alone two emotionally unstable 'free spirits'.
"Excuse me?" Amy said politely, walking up to the reception desk.
"There still isn't any news on Karma Ashcroft, Miss Raudenfeld. I promise we will inform you as soon as there is," the nurse said to her, smiling weakly.
Amy knew she was probably just being a pain in their backsides but she couldn't take not knowing anything. Jasmine was safe, and Amy was grateful for that, but she couldn't spend any longer in that room, hearing Jasmine tell her about how "strong Karma was" or how Amy was "the only thing" on her mind.
Amy placed her head in her hands and sighed in exhaustion.
"What happened to your hand?" Asked a voice Amy recognised all too well.
She looked up to meet Liam's eyes with a glare.
"Get the fuck away from me," she said through gritted teeth.
It wasn't logical for her to hate him, after all he hadn't done anything wrong, but she did. She had been wrong about him but that didn't mean she all of a sudden trusted him.
"Look, Amy," he started but she cut him off.
"Save it, Booker," she said, standing up and pushing past him.
"I have news about Karma," he said and that made her stop.
"What news?" Amy asked, turning back to face him.
"She was in surgery. The medication she was on counteracted the poison and gave the doctors enough time. Amy she's alive," Liam explained.
"How do you know all this?" Amy asked with suspicion.
"It helps when you're family owns one of the biggest and most influential companies in the country," he said, giving her a small smile.
"Where is she?" Amy asked.
"She was in surgery," Liam repeated what he had mentioned earlier.
"Where? What wing?" Amy said, waving her arms in front of his face.
"Ugh, west wing. Why?" He asked but she was already walking away.
"Amy?" He called out to her back.
She turned the corner and her feet started running, her heart was pounding in her ears. When she got to the west wing of the hospital she slowed back to a walk and tried to calm her breathing.
The sign above the door read "surgical ward" and the sign on the door read "restricted access" but she pushed through them. She walked with purpose, tried to act like she was meant to be there. There was a white board in the hallway covered in names and corresponding doctors and rooms. She found the name "K.Ashcroft" easily. She was in recovery, room 238. Amy walked down the hall, glancing at the room numbers as she passed them. 235, 236, 237, 238. There she was.
