Chapter 16
When times are tough, I like to escape here and you guys, the ones who read my story, make me so happy. I can't thank you enough. I'm going to stop now before I sound like a pretentious jerkface :P but I just wanted you to know. xx
This chapter is the 'turning point' chapter which will decide the direction of the rest of the story so I took my time making it right. Sorry it's been a while but it's here! :) Hope you enjoy.
"Good, you're awake."
Karma was taken aback by the voice. She had just assumed a man had done this to her. The blindfold over her eyes impeded Karma's view of her captor but the gentle voice identified them as a woman.
"Who are you?" Karma asked, even knowing she probably wouldn't get a straight answer.
"Oh honey, if I wanted you to know who I was, I wouldn't have that blindfold over your face," her kidnapper said patronisingly.
Even though she probably didn't realise it, or she didn't care, the woman had given Karma a subtle clue as to her identity. The blindfold could be necessary because Karma had seen her before, maybe even met her before. It could also mean she wanted to keep her identity a secret. That meant, as long as Karma had the blindfold on, her chances of survival doubled.
Karma heard the click of shoes on the cement, walking closer to her. She flinched at the woman's touch on her arm.
"Stand up," she said, dragging Karma to her feet and leading her to sit on a wooden chair in the middle of the room.
She was close enough that Karma could smell her perfume, it smelt like roses. The sent was all Karma could think about, it was all she could smell. Her senses were slowly heightening due to her lack of sight. She could hear the soft jingle of what Karma guessed were keys, possibly in "Rose's" pocket.
Her wrists hurt and her arm ached where Rose, who Karma had appropriately named in her head, had grabbed her. Heels clicked on the ground again as the other woman slowly paced around the room.
"Karma Ashcroft," Karma could practically taste the venom in the air as Rose spat her name.
"I bet you're wondering what you did to get here," she continued.
Karma figured it was a rhetorical statement but choose to speak away.
"Actually, I was just wondering if you knew what you where doing?" She said, trying to act confident.
"Oh, don't worry about me, honey. I can look after myself. I'd be more concerned with your own safety at the moment," Rose was applying scare tactics. They were working but Karma tried not the show it.
"So, are you going to tell me why I'm here?" Karma said, trying not the stutter.
"Oh, yes!" Rose said, almost enthusiastically, "you're here because, to put it simply. Karma, you're a bitch."
Karma wasn't sure how to respond to that but she didn't need to, Rose continued speaking before she had a chance.
"You lead people on, you ruin relationships and you break people's hearts but it all stops now." Rose said, her voice getting quiet at the end of her sentence.
"Wh-what are you talking about?" Karma stuttered.
"You're going to sit there and act like you don't know?" Rise said. When Karma didn't respond, she continued.
"Amy Raudenfeld and Liam Booker. Do these names ring a bell?"
"Yes, of course but-" Karma started but Rose cut her off.
