Chapter 24

HEY GUYS!! Sorry (again) that it has been a while. Aggghh assignments. I won't be able to update again until probably mid June but for being patient I will try and make it a super long chapter next time. Truly thank you for reading, I am enjoying writing the story and I honestly can't wait for you all to read what's going on in my head haha! Enjoy! :) xx

Jasmine snored softly, curled up on her hospital bed. Amy had been sitting there for so long she'd lost track of the time. She didn't do anything, she just sat. Jasmine spoke to her every now and then but she wasn't there. Amy's mind was in the room across the hospital, with Karma.

Amy waited until she was sure Jasmine was sleeping and then she crept out. She said good evening to the night shift nurse at the reception desk as she passed her. All the nurses knew her, she'd been here so long she could have been mistaken for a patient, and Amy knew most of them. But she didn't know this one. The nurse sat straight in her desk chair, her long brown hair was pulled up into a neat ponytail. Amy smiled at the pencil she had tucked behind her ear.

"Hi, I'm Amy," the blonde said giving the young nurse her best smile.

"Hi, Reagan," the nurse said, extending her hand for Amy to shake.

"Are you new here?" Amy asked politely.

"Yeah, just transferred over from Johnson Memorial," Reagan said.

"Oh really?! Cool. Did you work with Dr Walker at all?" Amy smiled at the memory of the kind doctor.

"I did. Boy, you sure know your hospitals. Are you a patient?" Reagan asked. Amy shook her head no.

"My best friend, she uh, she's being through a lot recently," she said, looking down at her feet.

"I'm sorry to hear that," the nurse said.

"Thanks. I think she's going to be okay, finally," Amy said, gaining a part of her smile back.

"Well, I'm glad," Reagan said.

The nurse was sexy, there was no better way to describe her that Amy could think of in her head at that moment. She had intense brown eyes that taunted her with every passing glance. The regulation nurses scrubs weren't flattering but Reagan definitely made them work. When she bit her lip while she concentrated, typing something on her keyboard, Amy couldn't help but stare.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?" Reagan asked the drooling Amy.

"Oh! No thanks, I'll just go," Amy blushed a little as she waved and left the nurse quietly giggling to herself.

Amy made her way down the hallway, she knew she was going to have some trouble shaking Reagan from her mind. When she got to Karma's room, she was surprised to see her sitting up in bed awake.

"Karma, why are you still up? It's almost one," Amy said, looking at the clock in the room.

"I couldn't sleep," Karma replied simply.

Amy walked in and sat at the same chair she had that morning. Immediately, and almost automatically, Karma reached her hand out to her. Amy obliged and took it.

"What have you been up to today?" Karma asked casually.

"I've been with Jasmine most of the day," Amy replied.

It was small, but Amy still noticed Karma flinch when she said Jasmine's name. Her eyebrows farrowed for a second, confused about why.

"How's she doing?" Karma said.

"Good, the doctor said she can check out in the next day or two," Amy explained, watching Karma carefully.

"That's good," Karma said, not looking Amy directly in the eye.
