I woke up in a haze, blinking twice I curse myself under my breath. Reaching for the side of the bed in search of my glasses. Finally finding it, I grab it putting it on. I glance to the side of my bed to find that it is empty.
Throwing my legs over the bed, I rub the back of my neck.
Two years flew by. The results of the Grail war were unknown seeing as there wasn't a Grail to claim. The result of cleansing of the Grail took its toll on my body. It damaged my sight making it pretty much impossible to see without glasses.
My circuits were fried at the roots, I can barely use basic magic and my mana is worse than Shirou's at this point.
As for the physical toll, I lost all the coloring in my hair probably from the strain I put on my body. Though every day I wake up with a smile knowing that I did the impossible and that the woman I love is by my side forever.
Well... I slept in today so she is probably roaming around town.
Tearing off my clothes I take a brisk shower before getting ready to go and find her. As I finish up getting myself ready, I grab my phone to see a message from Jeanne telling me to meet her near the usual spot we go on dates.
"At least you made it easier, but I shouldn't keep you waiting any longer," I drop it in my pocket as I fix my glasses.
Leaving the house, I lock the front door behind me. We traveled with Rin, Shirou, and Artoria, to Brittain. Well... we immigrated was the correct thing to say. I can say it was a pain in the ass getting through airport security considering that two of the people never existed in this era.
I now work at the clock tower to continue my research on the Grail. I was paid handsomely for my research but I already warned them that I don't plan on working full time.
Well... that is what I said but Jeanne made it clear that it would be best. So I listed her as my guardian and now we get to spend time together at work. Which is for the best - I don't want to leave her alone.
A short walk later I see the white-haired beauty keep her gaze to herself, as a stranger it would be almost impossible to approach her. Her glares would scare anyone off.
A lot has changed since then, for one I managed to convince her to lay off of the black and grow her hair out. Which in reality didn't expect either to happen.
She spots me as I walk closer, "You took your time waking up."
"Why didn't you wake me than?" I arch my eyebrow.
"You were sleeping peacefully," she states, "You don't ever wake me either..."
"Jeanne..."
"What?" she grumbles.
"You are gorgeous."
She blushes slightly, "Thank you..." then pushing herself off from her seat she digs her face into my chest, "Good morning."
"Good morning," I give her a tight hug, "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."
She shakes her head, "I met with Rin today," she says as she pulls away, "They were complaining that you don't ever take the time to say hi. She made it perfectly clear that I should tell you otherwise they are going to start to come bothering us at our home."
I chuckle, "Leave it to her to take things to the extreme," I then stretch my back, "Well, looks like we are going to have to make plans to meet up with them sooner or later."
"It's what you get for making friends, I told you we only needed each other but you insisted that we come here."
I chuckle, "It's not that bad is it?"
She nods, "Maybe not," she then locks her arm with mine, "So, about breakfast..."
"Let's have some," I nod, pulling her with as we go to our usual eating place, as we sit down I warn her, "I have to make a stop at the office, they want me to explain one of my papers because they don't understand it."
She groans, "I don't blame them. You tried to explain what happened and I still don't have a clue," she then sighs, "I guess it can't be helped either. You are important to everyone now."
I reach across the table, taking her hands in mine, "You are the only person that is important to me, and considering the pace, we are going at it - you won't be the only one."
"Shush already!" she pouts at me, "Don't say such things... I haven't even tested myself yet," her gaze wanders to the cars driving past us.
"But we are hopeful."
She then turns to me wearing a loving smile, "Yeah. There is no one else I would spend my eternity with."
I then confess, "I had a final word to share with the Grail before I almost killed myself..." she tilts her head, waiting in anticipation, "I wished that if it was in the power of the Grail that we would be together forever. No matter in which life."
She smiles at me, "Then... I look forward to meeting you all over again in the next life."
I chuckle, "You say it as if you intend on forcing me to love you."
"I will," she admits, "Or maybe I will never have to," she blushes as she looks down at the cups of coffee sat down at our table, she stirs it then taking a sip, pulling her face.
"Still bitter?"
"I'll get used to this toxic shit you drink," she frowns at the cup, taking another sip immediately after.
"You will get used to it," I state, "I mean eventually. You had two years already so I don't know why it is still that bad."
She glares at me, "I will burn you if you so much as continue teasing me."
"Okay - okay," I then look at the morning sun rising, my gaze drops to the street as I see the trio waving at us, "Looks like they came to find us."
She nods, "I told them we will be here."
I smile at as I wave them over, "Before they come over," I climb out of my seat, stopping next to her I give her a kiss, "I love you, more than anything else."
"You said that twice today..."
"I don't want you to ever forget."
She smiles at me, resting her face against my torse, "I won't. I love you too, my love."
