"It's not like I don't believe you-"

I interrupt him with a glare, "Then why are you here? Because I doubt it's for some tea and biscuits and your just getting on my nerves at this point."

"The reasoning for your acceptance into the mage's association is due to your research can prove to be invaluable but there is nothing to prove that your stories have a kernel of truth," he then crosses his arms, "Other than your magic circuits being destroyed that can just be because of you tampering them and not as a result of interacting with the Grail."

"Then complain to someone else," I say, "You will have my thesis soon and when you receive it will be packaged in a nice letter with a ribbon. Do you have a preference on how to receive it? I could always just shove it up your ass."

He sneers at me, "You have one week to show even the slightest bit of evidence."

"Then let me do my fucking work-"

The door slides open, we both stare at the white-haired beauty step in, "Is something the matter?"

He then glares at me a final time before walking to the door, "Excuse me," Jeanne glares at him before finally taking a step aside.

"I should stick around you more often," she breathes a sigh, then walking to me, "You okay? They have been on your case for a while now."

I rub my eyes under my glasses, "Yeah, the constant reminder that I am not really a mage anymore is enough to make me want to choke the life out of them."

"They don't seem to talk as much shit when I am around."

"Because they are terrified of you," I smile at her, "Forget about them for a moment," I lift myself as I wrap my arms around her, "I wanna go home."

Squeezing me tightly, "The day is almost over," she brushes her lips against my cheek, "What was this fight about?"

"Results," I say as I return to my desk, pulling a chair next to me for her to sit down in, "They expect a man with no potential to be a mage to both do their research on real magic and the Grail but I can barely cast a simple fortification spell."

"Then let me do it," she says.

I shake my head, "Never. They can either do it themselves or go fuck themselves. Besides if anyone uses my method they might just kill themselves in the process because it wasn't made to take the power from the root the right way but rather to force it into one's system via the Grail."

"I can handle it still-"

I kiss her on the forehead, "I'd rather do it myself before I put you through that," I then rub my neck, "Besides. I commissioned a transfer... well for magic circuits. I don't really have much to lose considering I fried mine."

"Will it work?" she takes my hand giving it a squeeze.

"It should."

"But that means you are going to start working on your research more effectively, so it is a good thing."

I lift my shoulders, "Not really. I will still be putting my newly acclaimed circuits to terrible use by trying to find ways to use first all the way to fifth magic and find a path to reach the Root of Akasha."

She finally sighs, "I give up. You try and understand those things," she giggles, "But are you done ranting, or do you want me to wait a bit longer?"

I look at her in confusion, "What for?"

She gives me an unimpressed look, "This is where you say you are fucking with me before I start getting angry with you."

"OH SHIT," I slam my palm against my forehead, "I can't believe I forgot, what did they say? How did it go? Did they chase you away or something-"

She squeezes my hand, "What hospital would chase me away?"

"I mean... you are pretty easy to annoy and it doesn't take much for you to consider burning the place down. Remember that restaurant?"

"The service was shit," she shakes her head, "Stop sidetracking me, do you want to hear the news or not?"

I fully turn to her, "What is the news? Tell me."

"Well they did run the tests and," she lowers her gaze smiling widely, bringing my hand to touch her stomach, "I am pregnant."

I instantly jump to my feet, throwing my arms around her pulling her into my warm embrace. I can almost hear myself giggling with excitement as she laughs at my reaction.

"Geez I didn't expect you to be this happy, but I am glad you are just as happy as I am," she nuzzles her face against mine.

"Of course I would be happy! You would kill me even if I wasn't," I pull away grabbing her hands, "This... is excellent news. We should-"

She squeezes my hands, "Calm down, okay? We practically have seven months to plan. No need to jump on the train it only just arrived."

I nod, "Besides we probably don't even know the gender yet," I twist my mouth to the side, "No matter, we should celebrate this regardless."

She leans forward, scoots her chair closer, "Really? I mean if you insist on going out but I doubt we should do anything too extreme."

"I was thinking dinner, not getting shitfaced."

She nods arching her brow, "I know... why on earth would I drink?"

"You said extreme. That is as extreme as we get, and by we I mean you. You and wine are a dangerous mix. It's like that possessive side of you just grows more dominant and then I will have you clinging all over me."

"Stop acting like you don't like it," she rests her head against her shoulder, "But I thought maybe we just stay home for a change. We don't have to do anything... I just want to be with you."

I kiss the top of her head, "Alright. I think my excitement got the better of me," I then squeeze her tightly, "What are you hoping for?"

She stays silent for a bit after saying, "If it were a boy I will have another one of you that isn't terrified of doing things he shouldn't and another me won't be so bad either-"

"You are saying these as if they are clones, Jeanne," I chuckle.

"No, I mean-"

"I know I know, I am just teasing. I think if I had to coinflip it I'd probably hope for a daughter but won't complain either way."

"We should know by next month," she takes a deep breath, "We should get home, I know you still have work to do but... ugh."

"I know, well I have an hour left of mandatory work to do so, you want to stay here or head home without me?"

She shakes her head, "I want to be with you," she says, I look down at her as she shuts her eyes.

"Do try not to distract me too much, we don't want them to come and scold me again."

"They can fuck themselves~" she sings, then starts humming a tune to herself as she rests her head on my shoulder.
