"We should not be this close to the police station if we're in a stolen ambulance."
Simon is currently freaking out because he thinks he's going to be arrested while the rest of us are freaking out because we think we're going to be murdered.
"That's the point. We're hiding in plain sight," Kate argues.
"Yea, just like Bundy," Josh mumbles. I smack his arm. "Could we, maybe, not talk about serial killers for just five fucking minutes, Josh?"
"Let me know what time would be more appropriate than right now, August," Josh says to me.
"You know what-"
"Shut up, August," Kate interrupts me. "What are you talking about?" She asks Josh.
"Ted Bundy, when he was taking his victims, I mean."
"Ok, didn't he get caught though?" Kate asks.
"Well, no-"
"What do you mean 'well, no'?" I ask him. "Well, yeah, but that's not what-"
"Figure this out," Simon interrupts. "I'm gonna go take a leak."
"Oh, fantastic, Si. Thanks for letting us know. Hey everyone, when things go to shit, let's let Simon 'take a leak'-"
Simon takes my hand in his.
"And you're coming with me,"
I trip over my own feet as I unexpectedly begin moving with him. "Ew, Si, I don't wanna be near you when you pee," I say as I try to struggle out of his grip.
"There's a killer on the loose and I'm not peeing by myself," He pulls me closer to him and wraps an arm around my shoulder. "We can be pee buddies."
I shove him off me as he laughs and unzips his pants, nearing a wall. I turn around. "I am actually repulsed by you-"
A cop car drives by us with the siren on.
"Shit!" I yell, startled.
Simon laughs and I hear him zip up his pants. "I don't know who you're laughing at-"
"You always hurt the one you love, the one you shouldn't hurt at all..." A girl's voice sings. I turn around to face Simon to see him looking past me. I turn around to see a girl, about or age, sitting on the ground with her head resting on her knees.
"Is she okay?" I ask, only a little creeped out, stepping closer to Simon. "Let's go check," He says, extending his hand. I grab onto it, feeling comfort from the small action.
We start slowly walking forward as she starts singing, again.
"You always take the sweetest rose and crush it till the petals fall..."
Simon and I stop moving and I let go of his hand to take a step forward. "Hey, are you okay?" I ask the girl, bending down to her height.
She lifts her head up, revealing a huge gash on the side of her face.
Simon grabs on my shoulders to get me to stand up. "What the..."
She smirks and quickly moves her hand, holding a sharp object, to slash my ankle. I scream as Simon tries to help me up.
The girl shoves me to the ground and starts to attack Simon.
"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit..." I mumble to myself as I try to stand up to help Simon. I put pressure on my ankle and immediately fall to the ground.
I wince as my back hits the chilled asphalt. I hear Simon struggling and I turn my face to see the girl getting ready to slit his throat.
Fuck that.
I get on my knees and crawl to them as fast as I can.
She puts the blade to Simon's neck.
I'm gonna fucking kill her.
I grab the girl's hair and pull her towards me, the girl almost instantly straddling me and pinning me down.
I know she's trying to kill me and Simon, but I can't lie.
She's hot.
"Get off of me, you pretty psycho!" I yell at her.
All movement from the girl stops once three gunshots go through her. My eyes widen and I freeze and she falls on top of me.
Simon runs up to me and lugs the girl's body to the side so he can help me up.
"Let's go! Let's go!" Deena yells at us.
"Get on my back!" Simon yells at me. Instead of arguing, like I usually would, I mange to get myself on Simon's back.
"Come on!" Josh yells.
I turn my head around to find the girl, with three bullet holes in her, slowly starting to stand up.
"Shit, Si. Go, go, go, go!" I yell at Simon.
"I'm trying, woman! You're not exactly the lightest person on Earth!"
I scoff. "Real nice, Simon. Why don't you go and tell me what else is wrong with me as I slowly bleed to death!"
He starts running at a surprisingly fast speed, considering he has me on his back.
"There's absolutely nothing wrong with you! Stop being so god damn dramatic or I'm gonna drop you on the ground and call it an accident!" He yells at me in pants of breath.
I gasp. "You love me too much to do that! Stop lying to yourself!"
"Shut the hell up and run faster!" Josh yells at us. "We are running!" Simon and I yell at the same time.
"I don't know why you said that but, okay," Simon mumbles.
I choose not to respond. I'll let him think I didn't hear him.
We get into the ambulance as Kate starts to drive us to Deena's house. Simon rests me on the ground, gently, being cautious of my ankle.
"Josh, look for bandages," Simon tells the younger the brother.
I lean my head back and close my eyes, trying to find a way to distract myself from the throbbing pain.
I feel liquid running down my ankle and a sharp pain that quickly follows.
"Fuck!" I yell, opening my eyes to see Simon pouring rubbing alcohol on it.
"You wouldn't let me do if your eyes had been open so I took my chances," He explains. "That hurts, Si," I tell him, as he starts to wrap a bandage around my ankle.
I wince as it makes contact with my skin. "Sorry," Simon mumbles, focusing on my wound.
He lets go of ankle and sets it on the floor.
Simon looks up and makes eye contact with me. "There, good as new," He says with a smile.
I shake my head but can't fight the grin that makes its way onto my face.
