Part Twenty-Nine: The Birthday

Jamie's POV:

We were on the way to 814 and Lucy and I had some small talk as we drove. She was also on her phone answering emails.

L: JAMIE!!!!!

I was shocked because it was pretty silent like I didn't mind. I liked the drive plus music was playing. It was a good silence.

J: yes?

L: it's your birthday?!?!?!

Oh man. I was hopping she wouldn't find out.

J: umm yeah...?

L: why didn't you tell me?? I would have done something!!!!!!

J: I don't care about my birthday. Plus I'm celebrating with my mom and stuff on the trip. Not a big deal.

L: what do you mean not a big deal? Omg I ignored you this morning too!!! You must think I'm an ass.

J: stop it. I don't care about my birthday that's why I didn't tell you 😂 alsoooo the only ass here that I want to hear about it yours. You're not an ass but you do have a great ass.

She hits me on the arm.

L: JAMIE BENN

J: whatttt I'm not lying. Please don't make this into a thing. Like I don't care that it's my birthday. Im just glad I get to spend time with you today. Even if you have work.

L: nope. Im canceling my schedule. I no longer have work.

J: no. Im not letting you cancel your whole day for me. We have to at least get all your meetings and stuff done.

L: I'm the boss and I cancel my meetings.

J: no Lucy. I can't let you do that. I already know you'll probably say no to 814 so you need to at least go to your other meetings to secure a warehouse and distribution center.

L: Jamie.

J: you're going. We can do something later.

L: so I can do something?

J: no.

I meant it. I didn't want her to plan anything. I was just happy she was here. I also didn't want her to cancel her whole day for me. I know she's been canceling things ever since she's gotten to Dallas just to spend time with me.

L: ughh you're no fun.

She crosses her arms and pouts

I chuckle a little. She's so cute.

I grab her hand and place small kisses on the back.

J: you know what?

I look over for a second.

L: what?

She's smiling a little now.

J: if you want to do something for my birthday just don't make it a big deal and I don't want to invite like Tyler or anyone. Can it just be the two of us?

She turns her body towards me. I'm still hiding her hand.

L: I guesssssss. Give me a second.

J: oh boy.

L: I'm not doing anything crazy. Don't worry babe.

I smile and just keep driving as she is doing who knows what on her phone.

We finally get to the 814 factory.

L: wow this is crazy.

J: yeah it's something. I'm kind of sad to be leaving.
