Chapter 2 - Friends..?

Maki's POV:

I don't know if I can deal with this class all year if I'm being honest

My thoughts were disrupted when Kaede asked me "Do you wanna talk with me and Saihara right now? You seem interesting!"

"No th-" I was cut off by Momota "Sure! We'd like to!"

"Great! So Maki can you tell us some stories about kids you've babysat? I love babysitting stories!" Akamatsu exclaimed, obviously eager

...

I stayed silent for a moment since it actually isn't my talent

"I don't know if I want to yet..." I replied

"So it's like a get to know you then talk kinda thing? Cool!" Momota said

Our conversation was interrupted when Miu intervened

"Hey why did you two walk in together? I bet your super desperate for his di-"
I punched her in the face for the comment, which I didn't even mean to, my arm moved itself

She quickly got up "I'm sorry!! I'll leave now!" Obviously defeated, she ran away

"Wow Maki you can pack a punch!" I flinched at the sudden first name basis from Momota

The others seem pretty surprised too, he looked around clueless

"So...h-how do you two know eachother ? Are guys childhood friends?" Shuichi questioned

"We bumped in the hallway!" Kaito lied

"No, Momota tapped my shoulder and then I threw him over my head." I said truthfully, breaking his spirit

"What?! How?! Why?!" Akamatsu asked curiously

"Reflexes." Me and Momota answered at the same time

"Jinx! Knock on wood! You owe me a soda!" He said obnoxiously

"What does that mean?" Obviously I had no idea what he was talking about, I haven't had much people to talk too.

"You don't know?!" He said surprised "Okay, just know you know owe me a soda because I knocked on wood since we said something at the same time." He said still with a surprised expression

"That's stupid..." I muttered "What?! No it's not?!!" He argued

"Anyways...how do you two know eachother? Are you perhaps dating?" I said trying to divert the attention from me and Momota

"D-Dating?!" They said in sink as they both turned away blushing furiously but no soda remark to follow

Saihara lowered his cap to try and cover his blush, failing miserably

Akamatsu closed her eyes shut trying to process what just happened but trying to calm herself down at the same time

Kaede's POV:

Did she really just say that?

Me and Shuichi met recently , so why am I so flustered!!!

Keep it together Kaede!

And stop referring to his first name in your thoughts because you'll accidentally say it out loud!

"N-No, we only met recently because we're neighbors and we bumped into eachother like a week before school because he was running in a rush, and he kept on apologizing, it was really cute of him." I answered

Poor Shuichi, who had just recovered from the dating remark, turned away blushing furiously, pulling his cap down once again

Harukawa and Momota looked kinda surprised
