Chapter 47 - Her tears of Despair.

Kaito's POV:

Shuichi burst through the door

I knew I could count on you Sidekick!

I was thrown to the floor by the assassins, it made me angry, I was too weak to fight back....too weak to help Maki...I couldn't escape from their grip. But now that they let me go, they just made a big mistake

I looked up for Maki, I wanted to make sure she was okay. She pulled me up

"Kaito! Kaito do you hear me?" She called for me, attempting to carry me.

I was going to ask if she was okay, but the most I could muster from my dry throat was, "Maki Roll...Mikan....Behind.."

She turned to Mikan, Mikan nervously stuttered out "S-Sorry! I-I gotta t-take care if y-your injury before you c-can do that kind of stuff like c-carrying others.." Mikan grabbed her hand despite her protests, she placed me back down gently and she couldn't seem to escape from Mikan's grip.

This is my chance!

Body weak, I tried my best to get up. As soon as I got to standing, I looked to Maki who was getting bandaged

Knowing she's okay, I stumbled to something familiar, a dissembled crossbow.

I grabbed the case, opening it and struggling to put it together, reciting Maki-Roll's instructions in my head.

*Flashback*

"What's this? It's a bunch of parts?" Kaito said, confused as he opened up the disassembled crossbow, surprised to see it in parts.

"Were you not listening? I said it wasn't together." She scolded him slightly yet sighed

"Alright, now teach me Maki-Roll!" Kaito gave Maki his grin and thumbs up as she walked behind him to guide him

"Put this...and this together.." Maki guided and pointed towards the parts

"Um...like this?" Kaito asked as he connected the two pieces

She nodded, he awaited further instructions

"And then, put that other part in the opposite way.." She trailed off in thought

Kaito was moving the parts in when..

"....Ah, wait. That's wrong." Maki realized, Kaito undid the part

"Oh my bad. It goes this way." Kaito fixed, starting to get how to do it himself if needed to

"Mhm, then next it's supposed to go on the bow." She guided

"Oh! Then this'll go here right?" Kaito asked, Maki nodded

"Good. Next make sure to put that over there." She pointed towards the broken handle

He obliged

Maki continued to guide Kaito into making the crossbow

Eventually, he succeeded in putting together the crossbow

"Whoa, since I built it, it became an extra cool crossbow!" Kaito grinned, proud of his creation
