Chapter 45 - It's Over...right..?

Maki's POV:

Everything else felt like a blur.

What I mean is, you know the part where I had a knife in my stomach? Yeah that's still a thing.

The door opened, revealing Shuichi

Was I surprised? Yes.

I almost passed out from blood loss, and shock for that matter.

Shuichi ran inside, a swarm of people following

My class, and the two classes we had befriended. All there for me and Kaito.

As soon as everyone barged in, Iruma threw something on the ground, it spread particles everywhere, and seemed to leave no trace.

The assassins let go of me, which was a mistake. And MonoKuma dropped Kaito on the ground carelessly, big mistake.

The assassins pulled out their guns, but to their dismay, the guns didn't work

Iruma you horny genius.

Running to Kaito, I felt the knife slightly become loose in my stomach, but I didn't care, I didn't care about anything at the moment except for Kaito.

"Kaito! Kaito do you hear me?" I called for him as I attempted to carry him over my shoulder, holding on to the knife into my stomach so it doesn't fall out and let more blood pour out.

"Maki-Roll..Mikan...behind.." Kaito stumbled over his words

The Ultimate Nurse stood behind me

"S-Sorry! I-I gotta t-take care if y-your injury before you c-can do that kind of stuff like c-carrying others.." Mikan grabbed my hand despite my protests, I placed Kaito down gently and couldn't escape thanks to my stupid injury

I watched as all of my friends beat up the assassins

I watched as Chabishira fought off every male from Yumeno

I watched as Ogami furiously fought off the assassins

I watched as people even without the athletic experience fight for Kaito, fight for us

I felt useless not being able to get up and take out my pent up anger

Mikan tried her best to quicken the process of bandaging, which she finished in record time thanks to her Ultimate

I convinced her to let me go early

I ran onto the battlefield, I kept my eye on Monokuma, who was trying to run away

I was making my way towards him, fueled with built up rage, when I saw a familiar man with purple hair and a matching goatee. He aimed a crossbow towards MonoKuma

His eyes were burning with rage, I've seen Kaito slightly mad, but this was complete and utter rage. I've never seen him this furious, almost like a whole person, he shot it, hitting MonoKuma the first hit

MonoKuma stumbled, Kaito's whole body was shaking

Do I help Kaito? Or do I defeat MonoKuma now?

Kaito is a fighter, he'll keep going until he collapses, I just need to do this quickly.

I ran over to where MonoKuma limped

"You don't get to escape that easily. I never got the choice to live this life. So you don't get the choice to live at all." I yelled to MonoKuma, blood boiling as I took my knife covered in my own blood and slashed it towards his arm.

He grabbed his arm, not in pain, but in anger

"Is that what you want Maki? Your orphanage will no longer be running.." He reminded

My whole body shook at the thought, he's right, what will happen to everyone?

"I-I...." I hesitated for only a moment, before hearing a Yelp from Saihara to dodge an attack, I ducked down, an assassin behind me.

I got back up, turned around to him, and swept his feet, stepping on him and sliding his pathetic body to the side

I sensed MonoKuma attacking from behind. I turned back around and held his hands back, a test of strength

Remembering everything he's done to Kaito, I pushed back with all my might. I had a newfound drive to kill, something I've never felt before. I pinned him down and took off all the weapons I could find on him, easily running out of breath from my injury.

"You're getting weak girl. Don't do it. Think about the orphanage." He chuckled, sunglasses now missing a lens, I was able to see his blood red eyes.

"I already did, I'll figure out something. But after everything you've done, the only thing you deserve is death." I held up my knife with rage, screaming in satisfaction as I brought it down

Kaito..

I stabbed him at his arm, he screamed in pain

"Kaito...wouldn't want this.." I huffed out

"Good girl....listen to what your little friend would want.." he smiled a crooked smile as he chuckled

"But I do." I took the knife from his arm and stabbed him right in the heart

I jumped away from his body

Proud, but also worried about whether Kaito would resent me for it

Speaking of Kaito...where is he?!

My eyes darted around the room for only a minute before I sensed an attacker, I fought him off, another one came, I fought her(?) off

I fought them all off, they just kept on coming

But I wasn't alone, everyone was there with me.

I fought with anger, determination, and pain of everything they've ever done.

And after what felt like forever of letting it all happen, it ended, it's done.

I was free. Finally

I stared at all of the dead and injured bodies on the ground, satisfied at what we've done.

In the end everyone left the building outside so Kiibo could destroy it all

But Kaito, where is he?

Could he be...?

No..

I frantically searched everywhere at all the bodies

No Kaito.

I searched every corner and finally..

"Kaito..?" He was there, but he wasn't awake

He...I hope, is passed out.

Passed out, smiling.

Even more blood than I had recalled dropping down his goatee

"K-Kaito.." I stuttered, voice cracking

No answer

"KAITO!!!!" I screamed as I frantically shook his body back and forth, waiting, wishing for an answer.

I checked his pulse...

...

...

...

.

"Kai...to..?"
