"I can't believe that she's already one," I said as I watched Aven play with her little toys in front of her. "And you're 27," I turned to Niall.

"Don't remind me of my age," Niall pouted. "I'm getting old,"

"You're not old," I laughed.

"I am,"

It was still crazy to think about how my child and the father of my child share a birthday. Aven could've come on literally any other day, but she came on Niall's birthday. That may explain why she was such a daddy's girl.

"I got you a present," I changed the subject.

"I told you I wanted nothing," he said. "What did you get me?"

"I'll show you later on," I smiled. "I'm Aven would like to open some of her presents,"

"What time are both of our parents going to call us?" Niall said getting up off the floor.

"Sometime soon," I said as I got up as well.

Aven was still seated on the floor. She realized that we were going to leave her room so she reached up her small arms. Of course, she was reaching for Niall to pick her up. He leaned down and picked up her small body. She was instantly happy to be in his hold.

"Speaking of them," I said as my phone began ringing.

I took my phone out of my pocket and saw that my mom was calling. I quickly answered the phone and put her on speaker.

"Hi, mom. You're on speakerphone," I said as Niall and I began walking towards the living room.

"Can we set up a facetime so we can see Aven?" she asked.

"I can switch it to one right now if you want me to,"

"Do that," she agreed. "I don't know how to,"

I laughed at what she said and switched the phone call to a facetime call. I set my phone up against some book on the coffee table just as my parents' faces came into view.

"I haven't seen you three in the longest time," my mom said. "Happy birthday, Niall,"

"Thank you, Marie," Niall smiled.

"What are you three planning on doing today?" my dad asked.

"Nothing really," I shrugged. "We got Aven a little smash cake for her to do though,"

"What does it look like?" my mom asked.

"I'll show you," I said, getting off the couch with my phone in hand and walking into the kitchen.

I opened up the fridge and pulled out the small yellow cake that we had gotten for Aven. I flipped my camera and showed my parents the cake I was talking about.

"That's very cute," my mom said.

"Do you want your present now or later?" I asked Niall after we put Aven down for her nap.

"Now," he said.

"You wait in the living room while I go and get it,"

He walked into the living room while I went into our room and into the closet. This was the only place that I could think of to hide his present. It surprised me that he didn't seem to find it knowing that he comes in here every day. I moved away some of the clothes and grabbed his present.

"Close your eyes," I said as I walked out of our room.

I peered out to the living room to make sure his eyes were closed before I walked any further. I walked close to him and held it out in front of me.

"Open," I said.

He slowly opened his eyes and looked at what I was holding. He looked confused, but happy at the same time.

"You didn't," he said.

"Open it up and see," I smiled.

He took it from my hands and laid it down on the couch beside him. He opened up the case and was even more shocked than before.

"How did you know I wanted this? How did you get it? When did you get it?" he rambled out his endless questions.

I had gotten Niall a guitar that I knew he's been wanting for such a long time. I still don't exactly know how I got it. Every time that Niall went to get this specific guitar it was either sold out or they didn't carry it in the store.

"Woah, Woah, Woah. One question at a time," I laughed. "I got it almost a month ago," I answered.

"I love it. I love you," he said as he pulled it out of its case. "Thank you,"

"You're welcome," I smiled.

"Are you ready to do your smash cake?" I asked Aven as I brought her over to her highchair.

Niall and I are both facetime our parents so they could see her. We had both of our phones set up on the dining table facing where Aven was going to be.

"Aven, you ready?" I asked her as Niall carried the small cake closer to her.

She began giggling and clapping her hands at the cake Niall had. He set it down on the small tray on her high chair. We waited to see what she would do with the cake in front of her.

At first, she didn't do anything, but eventually, she put her small hands on top of the cake. She took her hands away from the cake as if she was scared of it. She looked at Niall and me to see if she was even supposed to be doing this.

"Go ahead, Aven," I nodded.

She put her hands back on the cake and pushed down harder than she did before. She ended up getting cake almost up to her elbows. She began laughing and playing with the cake even more.

"Mama," she said to me.

She reached her hands closer to me like she was trying to give me the cake. I put my hands next to hers and she gave me a small chunk of the cake. I laughed at her trying to share it with me.

"Dada," she said next.

It was now Niall's turn to get some cake from Aven. He got an even bigger piece than I did. Aven smiled at the two of us before shoving her hand into her mouth. She had a good amount of cake in her mouth, but not enough to where she would choke. I knew that she was going to be needing a good bath once she was done with the cake.

I hope that she has had a good first birthday even though I know she won't remember it. I know that Niall and I enjoyed witnessing her on her first birthday.
