Aliyah

As much as everyone wanted to sleep this morning, we were all rudely interrupted by my father.

You would think that each year we go through this we would all be used to it, but apparently not.

"Aw, look at how cute," he said to Niall and me as we tried to remain asleep.

"Go away dad," I mumbled.

"You know the drill, baby girl, it's time to get this amazing day going. Be upstairs in 10 minutes or I'll be back to carry you up there myself, you included Niall," he said making him laugh. "10 minutes, let's go. Your on pancake duty, Niall you're on coffee and table set up, hurry up," he said and left.

"Still don't believe me?" I asked Niall.

"Oh, I believe you," he groaned.

I got out of bed and went to go put my hair up and brush my teeth.

"Come back to bed," Niall begged.

"My dad is not kidding. He will come back and carry you up those steps. He's done it before and will not be afraid to do it again,"

"5 more minutes, that's it," he begged once more.

"I wish I could, Ni, but this is the only day to be scared of my dad," I said before leaving my room to head upstairs.

"Where's the boy?" My dad asked once he saw me coming upstairs alone.

"He doesn't believe you'll carry him up here," I laughed.

"I'll be down there in 3 minutes, Niall!" He yelled down the steps.

"You don't need to scare him," I said to my dad.

"I'm not scary, this is just my favorite day," he retaliated "2 minutes!"

I laughed as I heard Niall rushing around downstairs.

He really was scared of my dad at this moment. It was truly funny to me.

"I'm guessing Niall is scared of dad?" I heard from beside me.

I looked over and saw Colby standing on the other side of the kitchen.

"When the hell did you get here? I didn't even know you were coming home,"

"We always come home for dad's favorite holiday," he said before answering my question. "I came instead night. I was busy doing some things with Sam,"

"I wish I would've known so I wouldn't be surprised when you start asking questions," I replied. "But yeah, Niall seems scared of dad. It's his first time being here for the Fourth of July. He doesn't know what to expect," I laughed.

"He better hurry up, he's running out of time," he said as he checked the time.

It was currently 8 a.m. Also known as the time everyone is supposed to be in the kitchen and starting breakfast.

"Niall! I don't care if it's your first year celebrating the Fourth with us, but you're late, I'm coming to get you," my dad yelled before making his way to the top of the basement stairs.

"I'm here, I'm here," we all heard Niall say as he finally joined all of us.

To my surprise, he ended up looking like he was ready for the day. Except he's wearing sweatpants and his hair still looks like a mess.

"It's about time," I teased.

"You didn't tell me he's serious about this holiday," Niall said to me.
