Aliyah
I've been looking forward to this time of year since last year. It was December 24th, otherwise known as Christmas Eve.
Tomorrow was going to be Aven's first Christmas. I was a bit sad about it, but also really excited.
I didn't like the fact that she was already growing up so fast. She was now 3 and a half months old. Time was already going by so fast. I didn't like it. It made me really sad that my baby girl was growing up so fast.
On a happier note, I was excited to see her reaction to all of the Christmas lights and Christmas spirit. I was looking forward to seeing how she would act once she saw everything. Christmas was my favorite holiday besides the Fourth of July, so maybe by the end of tonight, she'll love it just as much as I do. That's what I hope for.
Both of our families had flown in to spend Christmas with us here in LA. They didn't want anybody to miss out on Aven's first Christmas and they understood that Niall and I didn't want to fly to my hometown and then eventually to Ireland all with a baby. It would've been a hassle.
So, that is why we had so many people in our house. Both Niall and my parents had their own guest rooms while Max and Michael slept on our couch. Colby was still staying in his house a few miles away from us so he didn't need to stay with us. Bryce and Callie got an Airbnb that just so happened to be down the street from our house and they were staying there with Greg, his wife, and Theo. It all worked out in a way that we could spend as much time with each other.
We decided that we were going to go look at Christmas lights tonight that are around town. We wanted to start traditions that we can carry on with as Aven gets older. This was going to be one of those new traditions.
We knew that we were taking a risk of people seeing Aven if we went out in public with her, but we really wanted to make some new memories with our family. We wanted her to think that we were normal people who went out and did things together as a family. She will know eventually as she gets older that her father and I aren't normal people. She'll start asking questions about why we always had cameras on us once she gets older. That will be something we'll need to prepare for. But for now, she doesn't know what's going on and we wanted to make the best of the situation.
Speaking of going out in public with her, we haven't done that yet.
We decided that we wanted her to have her own personal life without cameras in her face all of the time. We wanted her to have a life where she wouldn't have to worry about people always in her face asking all types of invading questions. That's why we have never shown her face out in the public eye or even released her name. Nobody knew who she was and that was a good thing.
To save her from the public eye, we haven't taken her out of the house. Yes, we bring her outside for fresh air, but we never leave with her when either of us goes out. Niall and I will go by ourselves to go get whatever we may need. Of course, when we're out alone, we have cameras in our faces asking about our child. The media found out that we had her when they first saw me without a baby bump, so there went that secret we've tried to keep away from the public.
"Do we have everything we need?" I asked Niall as we tried making our way out the door.
This was something that we would struggle with now that we were taking Aven somewhere public. We had to make sure that we had everything we may possibly need for Aven. We needed to have bottles, diapers, wipes, extra clothes, warmer clothes, just everything under the sun. It was a lot.
"We should," I nodded.
"Let's go then before we can talk ourselves out of this," Niall laughed.
We loaded everything into the car and eventually got ourselves in. My parents were riding in the backseat with Aven while Niall and I were in the front. Niall's parents were in their rental car with Greg, Denise, and Theo. Colby was taking my other brothers and Bryce's wife in his car. We planned on meeting up with each other at a park where we could park our cars and get out to walk the streets to see the Christmas lights.

We were walking down the last street of the night because we were all very tired at this point. Niall was holding Aven in his arms trying his best to shield her face from people we didn't know. Our large group of people was surrounding Niall in hopes nobody would be able to see her. It was working out very well.
"She's starting to fuss, do you have her bottle?" Niall asked me.
"Uh, yeah," I answered as I dug through the diaper bag I was carrying, pulling out a bottle for her.
Niall grabbed it from my grasp and put it right in front of Avens mouth. I watched as he tried his best to feed her, but she didn't seem to want it. She did this every once and a while. She would start fussing and then not want a bottle. She would only want me to feed her. I was alright with that as long as she got what she needed.
"I'll take her," I said to Niall as I saw she really wasn't having any of this.
"Do you want to go to the car?" he asked as he handed her off to me.
"That's what the cover is for, it's fine," I said as I adjusted the cotton cover over my chest so nobody could see me breastfeeding.
Tonight was really fun.
Although we were just walking around the streets looking at Christmas lights, it was amazing. The reactions that we got out of Aven were adorable. She would be really amazed at the twinkling lights. Her eyes were all over the place wanting to see everything all at once. It was really cute.

"Someone is here to wake you up," I heard from above me.
I slowly opened my eyes to see Niall holding a smiling Aven in his arms. Of course, she would want to wake up earlier than she usually did on Christmas morning. She will definitely be the child that wakes up before the sun has risen on Christmas. Even at 3 and a half months old. Just our luck.
"She's already been fed and changed, so she's ready," he smiled. "We're just waiting on her mama,"
"Give me 5 minutes and I'll be ready," I said, rubbing my eyes.
"Merry Christmas, bub, I love you," Niall said leaning down to kiss me.
"I love you, too, Niall," I smiled as he was leaving our room.
I decided to just get out of bed instead of trying to talk myself out of it. The sooner I got out of bed, the sooner I could see Avens' reactions to everything. Just knowing that made me get ready even quicker.
I got myself as ready as I could and went out to the living room where everyone seemed to be waiting for me. I smiled at them as I sat down on the couch, taking Aven from Niall's arms.
"Let's get this Christmas morning started," I smiled.
