Nurin sat on the edge of her bed, her hands clasped tightly together. Forty minutes had passed since she had shut the door on Harraz.

Yet her heartbeat still hadn't calmed. She buried her face in her hands. She wasn't angry because he had seen her.

He hadn't.

She had still been wearing her inner hijab, with only a few tiny strands of baby hair escaping at the front. But that wasn't the point. He had seen a side of her that no non-mahram was ever meant to witness.

The quiet moments after her prayer. The sincerity of her dua. The privacy she had never intended to share.
And then...

"How beautiful..." Those words echoed in her mind again. She squeezed her eyes shut. Why did he have to say that? Why did he have to look at her like that?

She felt embarrassed. Ashamed. And strangely... frightened.

Not because Harraz had done it intentionally she knew he hadn't meant to walk in but because the moment itself had happened. She had always been careful to keep clear boundaries.

Yet today, those boundaries had been crossed by accident. She was upset with him for entering without announcing himself. But she was even more upset with herself.

I should have locked the door.

I should have been more careful.

She hated that she couldn't stop thinking about it.
Just then, Harraz's phone, which had been left with her, began to ring. The screen displayed one name.

Ahad.

She hesitated.

Should she answer?

After a few moments, she finally picked up.

"Assalamu Alaikum."

"Waalaikumussalam," Ahad replied before pausing.

"...Who's this? Did I call the wrong number?"

"No... it's me. Nurin."

"Oh." He sounded surprised. "Isn't this Harraz's phone? Are you with him? Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm okay." She forced her voice to remain steady. "It's a long story. We went for a site visit earlier."

"I thought it would've ended by now."

"It did... sort of." She glanced toward the rain outside. "We got stranded because of the flood, so we couldn't return home."

"What? So where are you now?"

"We're staying at the village chief's house."

"Oh..."

"I'll pass the phone to Harraz."

"Okay..." Ahad hesitated. "So... it's just the two of you?"

Nurin didn't answer the question directly.

"It would be better if you asked him."

She ended the conversation there and walked out of the room.
Harraz was standing alone near the balcony, watching the heavy rain.

"Mr. Harraz." He immediately turned around. She held out his phone.

"Ahad is on the line."

"Thank you." He accepted it gently. Nurin nodded and turned to leave.

"...Nurin." She stopped but didn't face him.

"I'm really sorry."

Silence.
