Genya pov
since Oyakata-sama brought up the news about Mui, i couldn't stop thinking about it... i was lost once again in my thoughts, till my crow startled me telling me to go on a mission with Kanao and Senjuro. i was often paired up with them as our skills worked well together, and we were also more calm and collective than... well yea... but overall, it was rare for three pillars to be sent out all at once, even to the same spot. it was most likely that we were going against difficult foes. but before that, Oyakata-sama called us to his mansion to hold a quick briefing.the information he gave was short and simple, but still informative. the demons were found to be very powerful, according to my expectations, however, they were seen to be wearing our uniform which overall wasn't all that uncommon. when faced with near death, many demon slayers decide to turn into demons in the fear of the pain death will cause them, as a result, there are quite a few demon slayers that, ironically, turn into their worst enemies. though sometimes they weren't willing to... anyways, he also mentioned that they have sharp skills. one of them are just overall strong and muscular, whilst another is weaker but makes up for it with agility and wits and the last is air-headed but still powerful. and lastly, they all have their own breathings, that have not yet been specified. but instead of our mission being to kill them, we only have to spy on them to extract any information or new abilities, maybe even find out what their breathing's are. the mission was more about stealth and quick-thinking, which is probably why bye chose us, rather than the noisier group. and with that, Oyakata-sama wished us good luck and we left immediately.

third-person pov
the trio sprinted through the woods and just before a clearing, where a forest lined around the clearing. they hid in the southern part, behind the leaves of some trees and quickly devised a plan. suddenly, the bushes from the east side started rustling and moving. our came three figures. they looked strangely familiar, but due to how far they were, they couldn't quite put a finger on it. they just pushed the thought back and focused on the mission.
"... hm? do you need something, Tokito-san?" the shorter, more feminine figure asked.
"no... this is just so that i don't get lost and forget what we were doing and going." the shorter boy replied with the smallest hint of embarrassment.
"ara, alright then, you're just like a lost puppy," the girl teased again. the trio decided to go closer to them, Kanao in the front, Genya following close, and Senjuro in the back. step by step, their hearts started to beat faster and faster, worried they might get caught. then Kanao stopped, she turned around, her usual emotionless face filled with shock. the other two were confused and decided to get closer, only to realise why.there, they saw Giyuu, Muichiro and Shinobu. they looked rather happy, like a family. Genya felt tears start to form in his eyes, but Kanao shot him a glare and put a finger on her lips, however, behind her facade, she was sad. had Shinobu, her mast- no sister really leave her behind and turn into what she vowed to kill? Kanao brushed that thought away and focused on gathering information. Senjuro was shocked to say the least. he knew that Shinobu had a strong will to fight against demons, if one of the most strong willed hashira was willing to turn into a demon, would his brother? he quickly rid of the thought and looked and the other two with concern, he knew how much the insect and mist pillar meant to them. he thought about how Tanjiro would react when they told him about the water pillar...
