Muichiro's perspectivei followed behind the small, feminine figure in front of me towards a house with a creepily tense air surrounding it. it's structure was typical to any other house, in fact, from a far it would look and feel like any ordinary, traditional wooden japanese house. that is, until you move towards it.
when you're within thirty kilometres of radius from this building, you will be met with a special border that can differentiate any human, demon, or whatever type of matter.
best case scenario— it lets you off scot-free and you live out whatever is left of your life.
worst case scenario— it brings you to either the house itself or one of the nine sceneries. these each represent one of the nine highermoon's minds where you will either play a 'game', instantly get killed, or slowly tortured and experimented on, options varying on which scene you get.
A/N:
a scenery refers to a region a highermoon guards and owns. basically, each highermoons own a have way to get their task done— kill the intruder brutally or peacefully. do note that the scenery can change in an instant to the highermoon's desire and Muzan has little to no control over the sceneries.provided you somehow manage to advance closer towards the house somehow, you will have to cautiously manoeuvre the many strategically set, specially designed traps.
"Chi-san? are you alright?" Shi-san looked back at me, "you're muttering to yourself again."
"oh, sorry, yea i'm alright. just... thinking, i guess."
she stopped and smirked at me.
"are you perhaps still thinking about Shinazugawa-san? don't worry i'll bring you to see him again next time."
i blushed uncontrollably at the comment.
"n-no i'm not!"
how does this lady have to know everything?!
she chuckled under her breath as she turned her head back to the door.
"sure, sure," Shi-san sarcastically laughed softly before turning around to face me, a finger over her mouth.
i gave her a quick nod and started to tip toe behind her into the house, making sure to close the door silently behind me.

Shinobu's perspectiveeven though i always made sure to sign to whoever was with me to stay quiet every time we snuck out, i knew well enough that the demon king's senses were far beyond any living matter's. there was never a guarantee that being stealthy would ensure our 'safety', but it worked most of the time.
in those times i got caught, it was typically just because i was out on missions he sent me on or it was any other intent he would accept.
but it's take no genius to tell you that sneaking out to meet with the 'almighty one's' eternal enemies is not a legible reason.
my eyes darted around as we slowly neared the elevator. the dark shadows of the furniture looked over us like threatening monsters. even if they were monsters, they'd be no match for us, given the amount of demon blood flowing in our veins.
sixteen...
eighteen...
twenty...
wait. that's not right.
i swiftly recounted the shadows.
shit. no no no no no.
stopping dead in my tracks, i held out a hand behind me to get Chi-san to stop.
hang on. has that shadow always been there?
i ran through my memories of the most previous time.
that shadow has been still since we came in, so there's still some time.
i reached a hand into my pocket to find it.
this should be able to last
my teeth gritted as i prepared myself mentally for what was about to await.

Muichiro's perspectivefor some unknown reason, Shi-san suddenly signed for me to stop. i stared at the the hand waving around next to the cloudy white kimono. what's happening?
i was about to open my mouth, however she slowly turned around to face me.
"Chi-san, i need you to listen to me." her tone, aura, gaze, all went strict, cold and blank. she adverted her eyes behind her again. around somewhere next to the elevator.
"whatever you do, do not look back. walk straight to the elevator," she instructed, placing something on my forehead and an item in my hand.
"go."
"bu-"
"now."
i met her gaze with a hesitant look. she smiled at me warmly and mouthed a last few words.
it's what Genya would want.
reluctantly, i made my way steadily towards the elevator.

third person's perspective"what are you doing,"
"Kocho Shinobu."
a 'tsk' escaped from said girl's mouth as she turned around. a bright glow appeared from her open hand.
she clasped onto the grip of her katana. the needle-like tip of the 'stinger' glistened brightly from the dim light of the chandelier that swung menacingly over their heads, as if threatening to crash on them any second if it weren't so securely fastened.
Shinobu raised her head, glaring with fury at the figure before her.

hi everyone, i'm so sorry that i've been so dead recently. i've only been editing the other chapters recently cause i didn't have much of any motivation.
as an apology, here's a chapter for y'all to read, but in the end it just turned out boring, short and badly-written. again, sorry for that.
i know i just came back from a long exam break so this is kinda unfair for you guys and i'm so very sorry for that!
