third-person pov
"let the show begin!" the smug black-haired demon announced as he stood near a man with curly black hair, bloody, pier hung red eyes. Nezuko immediately started to get agitated at the sight of him, the hashiras quickly inferring he must have been the demon king. Muzan.
"glad you could all show up, hashiras... and a demon i see? how traitorous..." Muzan commented in disgust.
"you said if we came on time you wouldn't hurt her," Tanjiro angrily stated.
"well, i got bored waiting for you. besides, you should know better than to trust a demon, let alone the demon king."
"damn you..." Tanjiro reached for his sword and got up, but was briefly stopped by Zenitsu. seeing this, Muzan extended his sharp nail and slashed Kanao on her arm, earning a loud shriek of pure agony.
Tanjiro gritted his teeth. they'd have no choice but to attack if they want to succeed. he withdrew his sword and charged towards Muzan, but stopped by a demon in his way, unknowingly the ex-flame hashira, Rengoku Kyoujuro.
shit, this is too early according to the plan. we have no choice but to back up Tanjiro then. the other hashiras looked over at the more logical Genya who was in thought.
the boy with a mohawk gave them a quick nod and they sprang into action. the few other present highermoons got ready as the remaining hashiras began to attack as well.
well, this is unexpected and troublesome... Muzan thought to himself as he raised another sharp nail to the girl's neck. he looked around him as the few present highermoons and demons eventually cornered each of the hashiras and teleported them into different rooms, leaving him there with the hostage, a boar head and two weaker demons.
in the blink of an eye, his arm fell off. he tried to regenerate the bleeding wound, but was unable to. he scowled as he looked around in search for the disrupter.
a pigtailed woman stood at the side, an angry expression on her face.
"fourth form: wisteria tide"
a purple floral water appeared from her blueish-purple blade as she swung it towards his neck. Muzan narrowly dodged her blade and almost managed to kick it out of her hands before she swiftly leaped back.
"A-Aoi...?" Kanao muttered in surprise.
Aoi flashed her a quick smile and returned to her battle. she knew she wouldn't last long and could only drag the fight for as long as possible.
Muzan made a quick move and delivered a deep gash
on her right forearm, making it bleed out heavily.dammit. Aoi bit hard to surprise her pain.
"second form: healing bubble"
Aoi twisted her body slightly and used her blade to form a bubble, efficiently healing her wound. the only noticeable remnant was a scar and the scarlet stain on her uniform.
"interesting, a newly invented breathing technique, i see," Muzan commented as he seemingly teleported next to her shoulder. he gave her a brutal kick to the stomach and sent her flying into a pillar.
"you have a smart mind, but your strength is pathetic." Muzan grabbed ahold of her sword and aimed for her stomach.
"fourth fang: slice 'n' dice"
Inosuke slashed Muzan diagonally multiple times, barely saving the now going unconscious Aoi.
"tsk, this is annoying. i know Ubuyashiki was foolish, but foolish enough to make a boar-head a hashira?" Muzan criticised.
"eighth gang: explosive rush"
the angered Inosuke charged at him at full speed, wildly twisting his swords at Muzan.
"Aoi, Inosuke! plan executed successfully, leave now!" Zenitsu yelled into a black clip that Tamayo made for them.
Inosuke grabbed the blue butterfly clipped girl, dodging Muzan's last attack and sprinted out of the maze of a bunker.
the duo escaped just in time as they reached their friends and the underground bunker let out an explosive sound.
they doubted Muzan would have died from the blow but it should have made them at least evacuate. fortunately, the butterfly mansion had a durable support and stayed its ground.
Tanjiro carried Kanao on his back and asked Aoi to follow him to his mansion to help her get treated and recover while the rest report their success to their master.
