Chapter Thirty
AFTER our quick meeting with Keno about what's about to come three days from now, I am still in a daze while staring at 48. She's currently fixing something on her internal parts in front of the mirror. Napapansin naman nito ang pagkakatitig ko rito at tila 'di na napigilan ng clone ang magsalita.
"If I were you, ask now. Kesa naman 'di ka makatulog n'yan mamaya," 48 said habang pinagpapatuloy nito ang ginagawa.
Pinag-isipan ko ng mabuti kung itatanong ko ba o hindi. There was something with the young Progenitor when he somehow gave me a hint about the Royalties' true identity in Privus Trata. Hindi ko alam kung ito ba ang tamang oras na kumpirmahin ito. Saka isa pa, sasagutin kaya ng clone na ito ang tanong kong 'yon? Paano kung naka-program itong limitahan ang pagsagot sa mga confidential questions?
"Wala," iyon na lamang ang tinugon ko tapos ay muling tumingin sa laptop sa harap. I received Caiden's report about Lawrence Nightingale—the asshole who proclaimed that he's the one who controls the Gangster sector now.
Nakita kong nagkibit balikat lamang si 48 na s'yang 'di ko nalang pinansin lalo nang biglang tumawag sa 'kin si Caiden.
I slid up the call in the air and Caiden's holographic figure appeared.
"'Di ka ba ma-t-trace ng mga Aldeguer?" pauna kong wika kay Caiden.
"Nope, Keno helped me to call you without being traced. Who is he again? That man is a living IT monster."
"He's the Queen's Hunter— he managed to hide the Queen for decades without being traced," I replied.
"He's wicked and genius, I must say. Anyways, I decided to call you instead dahil 'di na makakahintay 'to." Anang Caiden.
"About Lawrence Nightingale?" I reconfirmed.
"Yes, turns out this man is not just a puppet at all. I tried to dig deeper on his records even those who were junked and boy, I just can't believe this."
'Di na rin napigilan ni 48 ang lumapit sa tabi ko dahil sa sinasabi ni Caiden.
Caiden showed us a birth certificate—an old one, that says, Lawrence Nightingale's father is none other than Emmanuel Sy.
'Di ko naigilan mapanganga dahil sa nalaman.
"Ang ibig sabihin..."
"Emmanuel Sy held the throne of Gangster sector when he was still alive." 48 said, "Napasakanya 'yon alongside the authority to facilitate the GVA Organization for the sole purpose of exterminating the heiresses of Royalties of Death."
"Papaano s'ya ang naging anak ni Emmanuel Sy? Was it with Xavier's sister?' tanong ko dahil naalalang ang naging asawa ni Emmanuel ay ang ate ni Xavier.
"Well, nabuntis ni Emmanuel noon ang isang escort matapos magkahiwalay sina Emmanuel at ang ate ni Xavier."
"And he took the Gangster sector dahil sa pag-iisip na s'ya ang lehitimong tagapagman no'n?" tanong ko.
"Asyumero 'eh," komento ni Caiden.
"How about DNA result? A birth certificate might be authentic but knowing Emmanuel, kung nagkita na ang dalawa noon, the man would make sure to get more solid evidence na anak n'ya si Lawrence."
"There's none," mabilis na tugon ni Lawrence. "Or at least that I know of."
Nakita naman namin kung paano napangisi si 48. "Anything else that you have found behind Lawrence's dark closet?"
