Chapter One

"HEY, BRO. LOOKING... not so good, huh." I joked around when I saw him as soon as I opened the door. I'm holding two paper bags with full of groceries. I tossed a canned beer to him in which he was able to catch without even looking at me.

"The trace has been gone... again." He said while sighing. His sigh has full of frustration and stress. And it's being reflected on his face. Rough beards and his man-bun hair.

"What do you expect?" I commented while I'm fixing the groceries in the kitchen area.

"It's always been like that since we started this. A rat who doesn't want to be found."

"There has to be another way. There should be, I just can't figure it out... yet." He murmured then he opened up his canned beer and started drinking it.

"Sinabihan naman tayo na mahihirapan tayo, Brad. And I'm starting to believe that woman is one hell of a mouse." I said.

"I agree. We are like looking for someone in total darkness. Whenever there's a glimpse of light, it always fades within twenty-four hours or even less."

Pagkatapos kong masalansan ang mga pinamili ko kanina ay kumuha ako ng isang slice ng pizza sa kitchen counter and a glass of cola then I relaxed on the sofa bed nearby.

"If that Queen doesn't want to be found then we need to reward ourselves for a peaceful night, brother. C'mon! Leave it there, the traces have been gone anyway." I invited him to relax.

"We can't afford to relax and be complacent, Xave! We need that woman as soon as possible!" I just did a make face while he's blabbering his never-ending reminder.

"And for Pete's sake, aren't we allowed to take a break even just for a day, Evo?" I blurted out when he threw his emptied beer at me.

"We've been searching for her for about three years already."

Nakapikit ako habang nakasandal sa sofa. Nang mabanggit ko ang ilang taon naming paghahanap sa babaeng makakatulong sa'min para mapagana ang Apollo ay hindi ko namalayan na gano'n na pala katagal talaga.

Tatlong taon na rin pala nang iwan n'ya ako. Tatlong taon na pasakit dahil akala ko may forever sa'ming dalawa ni Sweetie. Tatlong taon na pero parang kahapon lang nangyari ang lahat.

I was cooking of our dinner that time. Maaga akong umuwi sa opisina noon dahil anniversary naming dalawa ni Xyrene ang araw na 'yon. I planned of surprising her. Having a simple candlelit dinner would be the best idea that I've come up so far. Xyrene just wanted everything so simple. Hindi s'ya yung tipo ng babaeng maluho. She's still the woman that I fell in love with through online.
