Milan, ItalyThe Cassano Mansion
A young man dressed in fancy Boolarlo suit stepped out of his black lamborghini."Welcome, Mr. Cassano, your father has been waiting for you in his study," an old man dressed in a neat tuxedo said in thick Italian accent as he approached the younger man who just arrived.
"Thank you, Gerald," Vincenzo Cassano nodded at the old gentleman before he made way toward the huge mansion. It has been a few months since he last came home as he had to manage business all over Europe. Although this place is what he called home, he never actually missed the place. That's why he prefer to stay at his own house in the city.
"Son, you're home," a soft voice called him. Vincenzo smiled upon hearing those voice and he made way toward the woman who just called him.
"Mother," he greeted the middle aged woman who sat near the fireplace at the reading room. The woman, Catherine Cassano, was a Korean who was born and raised in Italy.
Her father was the Korean Ambassador of Italy and that's why she spent all her life in Italy until she married to Alberto Cassano, heir of the Cassano family, one of the wealthies "old money" families in Italy. Vincenzo Cassano was their firstborn and he was pretty much a copy of his own mother.
Vincenzo bent down a little to give his mother a kiss on the cheek. "Where have you been, huh? You haven't come home since Veronica's birthday. It's been six months," Catherine said as she eyed her Vincenzo, noticing that her son has lost a few pounds.
"You know I have to take care of a lot of things," he said. His mother sighed and caressed her son arm. "I just miss you, I miss our family together again," she whispered but Vincenzo could still hear her.
He wanted to come home too, to be with his family. Although he didn't miss this huge house, he surely missed his family and seeing his mom liked this made Vincenzo a little sad. It's hard for him to come home because his relationship with his father wasn't exactly the prettiest. It was strictly business between the two.
They weren't always like that. At one point, Vincenzo remembered having a normal happy childhood with his father. People even said that Alberto Cassano loved his firstborn so much because he exactly resembled his wife who was very dear to him. If anything people know about Alberto Cassano, he was head over heels for Catherine.
It surprised a lot of people that he married an Asian woman. Alberto used to take him duck hunting or horsing. Until Vincenzo turned 16 and learned what it is that his family did for a living, everything changed.
The Cassano family was a huge mafia and at one time, they were to most respected family in all over Italy. Alberto had wanted Vincenzo to take over the family business, including the mafia business, but Vincenzo said no. Since then, everything went downhill for the two.
Now that the Cassano family no longer in the Mafia business, the relationship between Vincenzo and Alberto was already damaged beyond repair. Vincenzo only tolerated him for the sake of his mother and his two younger siblings. If not, he would just hope that cruel old man rot in hell. He knew Alberto was his father, but only Vincenzo knew what exactly his father had done. So his mother and his siblings would never understand and comprehend why Vincenzo hated that man so much.
"Eomma," Vincenzo said, calling his mother with her mother tongue was always something he did to console his mother. "I need to go."
Catherine smiled at him and nodded, giving him permission to go. "Ah son, please be easy on your Papa. You know his health has really gotten bad couple months ago. Just don't-"
