Three months later
Seoul Memorial Hospital
Seoul, South Korea"Congratulations, dr. Hong!"
The whole surgical floor applauded Chayoung and the woman was startled when someone popped off a confetti. Tiny pieces of colourful paper filled the air along with the sound of clapping hands and excitement from her colleagues.
"I know from the three of us, you'll make it first, Hong!" Woojin side hugged Chayoung while munching a piece of cake that Nurse Kim brought to celebrate today's occasion.
"Congratulations, bestie!!!" Miri squealed and pulled her best friend into a big hug which Chayoung gladly accepted.
"This is all too much guys, you will be promoted by the end of this month too," Chayoung sighed, but couldn't help to hide her smile from all the love she received.
"This place just needs an excuse to celebrate anything, dr. Hong. We need entertainment around here," Nurse Kim smiled. "Congratulations, Professor Hong," Addison walked toward her and pulled the young neurosurgeon into another hug.
"Dr. Addison, thank you for your guidance, but please, do call me dr. Hong. It's weird if you call me that," Chayoung laughed and Addison nodded. Addison and Chayoung hated to be called that title, but both women couldn't help when their juniors had to address them formally.
"Ya, Hong Cha, you still owe me that one shopping spree, don't you forget that," Miri reminded her best friend after she finished thanking everyone. Chayoung turned to her best friend and smiled apologetically at her.
Miri felt so betrayed when she found out that Chayoung had kept her in the dark about her new relationship with a certain Italian-Korean man until earlier that year. What hurt Miri the most was, in Seo Miri words, "How come you choose to tell that clown first?", referring to none other than Han Woojin himself.
"I'm fine if you keep your relationship to yourself first, but it still hurts to know that Woojin knew it first. Han Woojin!" Miri scoffed, still not over the fact that Chayoung chose Woojin over her.
"I don't know who else to turn to. Besides, you were barely alive with dr. Park's resignation and all. Woojin was there and he actually helped me a lot if we exclude his crazy dating tips. What was I thinking?" Chayoung also sighed. Both surgeons looked at Woojin who was munching his fifth slice of cake already without a single care in the world.
"Nurse Kim, this is so good," Woojin smiled with a mouth full of cake at Nurse Kim who passed by him. The middle-aged nurse just smiled at the Woojin and patted his shoulder softly, slightly concerned that the handsome surgeon almost finished half of the massive cake by himself.
"I don't understand why anyone could ever fall for that guy?" Miri said, out of nowhere with her head tilted to the side. Chayoung wanted to agree but she smiled knowingly at Miri before she took a deep breath, pretending to think about Miri's question.
"You know, Han Woojin has his own charms. The interns and young residents are crazy about him," Chayoung said, which earned a glare from Miri.
"Ya, don't go around spreading lies like that."
"I'm serious. Junwoo said that the doctors in his year are all crazy about Woojin. After dr. Park left our hospital, he is the next best thing," Chayoung shrugged. Miri was slightly annoyed by the fact that Woojin got all this attention, but she brushed it away immediately.
"Whatever, Cha. Anyways, this weekend, my house. I want you all for myself all day and no one, I mean no one, can mess up our shopping spree okay?" Miri warned Chayoung. The neurosurgeon nodded almost immediately and saluted at Miri. "Yes, boss," she smirked.
