"AHH! There is nothing better than the sweet smell of Chanel store," Seo Miri sighed as she entered the high-end designer store located right in the heart of Seoul's most prestigious shopping district.
Chayoung, on the other hand, looked defeated. Her legs were killing her because they basically entered every designer store in the area and it was already the 10th store they visited that day if Chayoung could remember correctly. It was a good thing that Miri's dad insisted that they should take two personal bodyguards to accompany them that day. They were a huge help to carry Miri's endless shopping bags.
"Miss Seo! It's been a while since you come here. We miss you!" A man dressed in sleek suit greeted the two women as soon as they entered the store. He looked like the store manager and if there were one thing Miri was good at besides surgery and throwing parties, it was shopping. She basically knew the store managers in this shopping district by name.
"Kevin! You have no idea how much I missed you. I know it's been a while, but today is the day I redeem myself," Miri laughed excitedly. "You know the drill. Bring out all the latest collection!"
"Alright, right this way Miss," Kevin led the way to enter a sitting area, closely chatting with Miri as if they were long lost friends who haven't seen each other in years. Chayoung just shook her head and followed them while looking around the store. They both sat on a large couch while Kevin and the other employees were busy preparing the bags and dresses Miri requested.
"Hong Chayoung, you should treat yourself with something. I've basically emptied out all the stores and you only bought a scarf, and it wasn't even for you!" Miri looked at her friend before she sipped her tea that was brought by an employee for them.
"You know, my family doesn't own the entire travel industry like yours," Chayoung joked, but Miri only looked at her in frustration.
"You always say no when I offered to buy, and now you're already a Professor, don't forget to mention you are now engaged to-" before Miri could finish her sentence, Chayoung quickly covered Miri's lips with a piece of biscuit. Miri widened her eyes and Chayoung only smiled cheekily at her.
"Don't say it out loud," Chayoung said. Miri rolled her eyes and munched the biscuit in her mouth. "You know, your fiance is crazy. If I am engaged to a girl like you, I would brag to the entire world," Miri scoffed. "You know it's for safety reason," Chayoung answered. Miri wanted to argue more but her attention quickly shifted to a rack of dresses and bags that Kevin brought to the room.
Miri squealed excitedly, immediately forgot about their conversation and started to choose from the pretty dresses shown in front of them. Chayoung smiled at her friend. Even though Miri could be a bit much to some, she had always have a good heart.
Also, Chayoung didn't buy anything not because she couldn't afford it. If she wanted, she could buy a decent bag with her own money as a surgeon, but Chayoung never really enjoyed shopping and only tolerated it because it was Miri's favorite thing to do. Everytime Chayoung went shopping, especially when she was alone, she would get reminded of her Mother. The last memory that Chayoung spent with her mother was when they were shopping for Christmas dresses, right before the accident.
"Does it look good on me?" Miri's question brought Chayoung back to reality. Chayoung nodded, smiling in approval seeing her friend in a pretty yellow dress. Miri looked good in everything and she knew it, but Chayoung knew Miri needed the approval. If Chayoung hate shopping because of her painful past about it, Miri loved it so much because her mother would always complimented her every time they went shopping.
