just us

eight years. eight years of love, of laughter, of being a team. and four of those years married.

you've come so far together, careers, milestones, late-night pizza runs, and inside jokes only the two of you understand.

your heart warms just thinking about the early days with cameron. the nights you'd sneak out, tiptoe past the boys, chasing moments alone together, whether it was walking the streets hand in hand or driving with no destination.

any excuse to be alone with each other, you took it. and somehow, you still do.

cam, your first official boyfriend, always gave you everything he thought you deserved, and then some. a soft tear slips down your cheek as you wish you could rewind time, relive the first butterflies, the whispered promises, the stolen kisses.

not that life now isn't perfect—it is—but those early memories have a magic you can't forget. the way your hearts collided so naturally, like a force neither of you could or wanted to fight.

it was dreamlike. the kind of dream no one would ever want to wake up from. even now, you hope you never do.

you remember late-night talks where cam would grin and say, "let's catch a flight, why not?" just because you could. no rules, no plans, just you and him taking the world one impulsive adventure at a time. every trip felt like buying more time with each other, and you weren't complaining.

you'd do anything for stolen moments together, away from interruptions, away from the world.

you chuckle thinking of that one morning in paris—just leaving breakfast, a salesman showering compliments, cam grinning at you.

"you're mine, okay?" he said, eyes serious but soft.

"i know, baby. i'm all yours," you replied. and that was enough to make his smile grow even wider.

love like this was addictive. you couldn't get enough.

"mommy?" a small voice interrupts your thoughts.

you jump, turning to see your little son. "yes, baby?" you kneel to meet him at eye level.

"daddy said he wants you to... to... uh..." he stumbles, words escaping him.

you smile, smoothing his clothes. "it's okay, buddy. just tell me where daddy is, and I'll go to him, okay?"

"in his office!" he finally declares, beaming.

"good job!" you praise. "are you coming with me or staying with your toys?"

he hesitates. "i... i wanna stay with uncle swagger..."

you glance at the living room to see swagger sprawled on the floor with a tower of toys in his hands.

"okay, honey, go have fun with uncle swagger. come see us whenever you want," you reassure him. he scurries back and jumps on swagger.

"boo!" he shouts.

"ah! you scared me!" swagger yells, playing along.

finally, you reach the shared office and peek in. cam isn't streaming, lucky break.

"hi, baby," he smiles when he notices you.

"hey... what's up?" you ask. he fiddles with his computer a few seconds before speaking.

"remember when we said we'd take a break from streaming?"

"uh, yeah... why?"

"well... i said I wasn't ready yet. needed a few more months."

you nod.

"okay... now I'm ready for our break."

your face lights up. "really?" you whisper, unsure if he's teasing.

"100% sincere, baby," he grins, pulling your chair closer so you can sit on his lap.

"i'm so happy," you confess, almost in tears. it wasn't frustration that he delayed, it was just missing him, missing the quiet moments together away from the online world.

you don't stream or upload like you used to. you're grown-ups now. married. parents. in love. living life beyond the screen.

cam wraps you in a tight hug. "i'm happy too. can't wait to spend time with my two favorite people in the world."

"so... how do we tell everyone?" you ask.

"one last stream. just us... and whoever walks in. we'll say goodbye properly, not just a tweet."

"perfect!" you smile.

"y/n!" a shout from outside makes you both turn. no little feet yet, so probably swagger, doing what he does best: yelling for fun.

the office door swings open. your son comes barreling in, footsteps thundering behind him.

swagger, of course.

"this little...," he starts, pausing when he sees your raised eyebrow.

"permission to call him that?" he asks cam.

"uhh... go for it," cam shrugs.

"that little... threw his fire truck at my toes! my toes hurt!" swagger complains, setting off a chain reaction—cameron and your son laughing nonstop. you can't help it and start laughing too.

swagger grunts. "not funny! my toes—" then cracks, joining the laughter.

"okay, chat," cam says, waving. "last stream for a while. we'll be back, just not sure when. we want family time... adventures with our little one."

you wave, your son waving too.

stream ends. cam pulls both of you into a hug. the vacation begins, and you can feel it, the kind of warmth only home, love, and family can bring.
