to stream or to not

busy days were usually fun, since your usual schedule didn't have much on it, unless ryan roped you into one of his errands.

but today? today was a whole different level of chaos.

two separate meetings, two separate fittings, and a multi-hour drive to pick up something for ryan because, of course, the person originally supposed to do it bailed. you felt bad for him.

the meetings were mercifully short, but the fittings... oh, the fittings dragged like forever. and then traffic hit you like a cruel joke, just as you were heading to grab ryan's package.

naturally, he called.

"hey, y/n!"

"hi, ryan," you said, tossing him on speaker as you gripped the steering wheel with one hand.

"where have you been? feels like forever."

a heavy sigh was all you gave in reply.

"well... meetings, fittings... the usual chaos. i'm on my way to get your package now, stuck in traffic though, unfortunately."

the conversation stretched on, comforting you during the painfully slow drive. ryan always had a way of making even the worst traffic feel... better.

as the call was winding down, he shouted at mason, standard protocol these days.

"tell mason i said hi!" you called out.

"mason, stop poking me or i won't tell you what y/n wanted me to say!" ryan grunted.

silence fell, broken only by mason's unhappy mutter, "i'm sorry, ryan..."

ryan gave in, grinning, "mason, y/n says hi."

the call stretched a little longer, you chatting with mason while ryan chimed in here and there.

"okay, y/n, we gotta go!" mason whined.

"okay, boys, i'll talk to you when i get home," you said with a smile, ending the call.

alone at last, but only fifteen minutes from ryan's package pick-up.

package secured, you dropped the heavy box on the island table and muttered, "never again."

you headed upstairs, ready for a shower. today had left you sticky and exhausted.

"hi!" a familiar deep voice called.

you spun around, relief washing over you. cameron. "hi..." you smiled, and he pulled you into a hug.

he noticed immediately, you were wiped.

"rough day?" he asked.

"mhm," you muttered into his chest.

"shower... then hang out?" he suggested, mid-hug, and you nodded, reluctant to let go.

the shower was heaven. the warm water washing away hours of chaos.

you headed downstairs, ready for some quality time with cam, only to find... empty living room.

you texted him "ready whenever you are, i'm in the living room waiting :)"

still no show.

you guessed he was in the bathroom and flicked on the TV to distract yourself. fitz was streaming.

"oh... shoot," you whispered, realizing the conflict. best leave him to it, you didn't want to interrupt and risk him stressing. you'd still have your relaxation time together later.

he died in cs:go, perfect opportunity. you grabbed your phone: didn't know you were streaming today... continue on, i'll watch from the couch!

ringer goes off. his face goes from surprise to guilt in seconds.

"guys, quick break... back in a sec!" he told the chat before sprinting to the living room.

"baby..." he breathed.

"what's wrong?" you tilted your head, amused.

"i forgot today was streaming day! swagger reminded me, and i completely spaced on us hanging out..."

you giggled. "it's fine, that's why i texted!"

he frowned. "i know, but i feel bad."

rolling your eyes, you shooed him back. "go stream. i'm fine!"

minutes passed. he came back—again.

"...hey," he smiled sheepishly.

"hi," you chuckled.

"are you really okay with me streaming after your crazy day?" he asked, nervous.

"yeah, baby," you said warmly. but a small part of you wished he'd just stop everything to be with you.

he hesitated, then admitted, "i really do want to hang out with you."

"okay... now run along," you teased, shooing him back to finish his stream.

and off he went, leaving you with that warm, romcom-perfect feeling—the kind where even interrupted plans, chaos, and long days somehow feel like a love story.
