My Kidnapper Loved me

My eyes shot open at the sound of Payton's cries, I jumped out of bed with Tyler right behind me, we ran to her room to see that she was still in her crib and the room was empty. I felt a wave of relief course through my startled body, I looked at Tyler shaking my head as he looked at me. I don't think this feeling will pass easily considering the last time she cried in this room was the night she was taken from us. I picked her up doing our routine cleaning her diaper and feeding her in the kitchen. Tyler goes back to work today, so Payton and I will have the whole day together. She's getting so big she's gaining teeth and her hair is growing everyday, it saddens me that her baby years are almost over, soon we won't have a baby anymore but a toddler and I'm not excited. My thoughts were interrupted by Tyler's strong arms wrapping around me and Payton giggling as he tickled her in my arms.

"Shouldn't you be getting ready for work?"

He loosened his hold on me and stopped tickling Payton.

"Are you trying to get rid of me, my beautiful wife? I am wounded."

He put his hand over his heart and pretended to die of heartache, I laughed shaking my head.

"No, I just think that it's time we both start working again, I can stay home during the day and you can be home at night, we need to start getting our schedules straight again."

He nodded his head understanding where I'm coming from.

"I don't go back until tomorrow, so you should go in and talk to your boss to see if you can get switched to the night shift."

I nodded my head, and he took Payton from my arms while I got ready to go talk to my boss, this should be lots of fun. After getting dressed I walked out to my car and drove down to Monte's to talk to Ryan about setting up my new schedule. Once at Monte's I walked through the door to see Mel, one of my coworkers at the podium, I looked around seeing that it was really slow.

"Hey Mel, is Ryan here today?"

She looked up at me and smiled.

"Hey Elena, yeah he's in his office, how's Payton?"

A smile broke on my face at the mention of my baby girl.

"She's doing just fine thanks for asking, anyways back to Ryan is it okay if I go back to his office, or is he busy?"

She shook her head as if clearing it and remembering the task at which I am here for.

"Oh yeah right, I think he's just doing paperwork, but you can go back there just knock first."

I nodded my head.

"Thanks Mel, I'll talk to you soon alright."

"Alright, El."

I waved goodbye before walking back to Ryan's office hoping that he's not too busy, I knocked on the door three times letting him know that someone was at his door. I didn't get a response for a couple minutes and before I gave up I heard his voice on the other side of the door.

"Come in!"

I walked through the door and Ryan looked up from the papers he was reading over looking at me with his caramel brown eyes, a smile coming to his face.

"Hey Elena how have you been?"

I smiled back at him.

"I've been good, and you?"

I asked not really caring, just trying to be polite.

"I've been well, so what can I help you with?"

"I was wondering if I could rearrange my schedule, see with Payton in the picture now, and Tyler going back to work. We both want to be a part of her life without her having to go to daycare, so I was hoping that I could get switched to nights?"

He pulled out a binder with all of the schedule's he looked at it for a moment before looking back up at me.

"Alright Elena, we have three days a week that are open for you to work nights the rest you would have off so that's three days out of seven if that's alright with you."

I nodded my head.

"Alright, what days would I be working and what position?"

He looked back at the binder, then back up at me.

"The days you would be working are Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday, the rest of the days you would have off. The positions would be serving and with that comes watching the front, if that position, and those days are alright with you then consider your schedule changed."

I nodded my head.

"Yeah all of it sounds good to me tomorrow is Sunday so what time should I be here?"

"I think about six p.m., till midnight."

I nodded my head and watched as he switched around the schedule.

"Alright is that all you needed Elena?"

"Yeah, unless there's something else you need to tell me about my new shifts."

"You will be working with me, I'm not only a manager."

I laughed.

"Well just a tip, stay out of my way on the floor when you're out there, you're not my boss your a coworker got it."

He laughed and nodded his head.

"I'll keep that in mind."

I walked out of his office and to my car heading home for the night, I pulled into the driveway, shutting off the car, walking into the house.

"Ty, I got my schedule changed."

I didn't hear a reply so I walked down the hallway, into Payton's room to see him sitting in the rocker with her fast asleep in his arms. I walked over and took her from his arms, placing her in her crib, Tyler and I walked out of the room and across the hall into ours.

"I got my schedule changed, I work tomorrow night from six to midnight, that way you can work during the day. When you get off you'll see me for an hour before I go to work, I can take care of Payton during the day and you get her at night she won't ever be alone."

"That's perfect."

I nodded my head agreeing with him, I changed out of my clothes and into one of his shirts climbing into bed. He crawled in next to me wrapping his arms around my waist after setting his alarms for work.

"Goodnight El, I love you."

I smiled rolling over giving him a quick kiss.

"I love you too, goodnight Ty."
