the golden guard/hunter preferences

★ who confessed first.

• in all honesty, you liked him first. he just had this certain charisma that drew you to him. and even though he WAS an asshole to you, you still couldn't help the way you felt and gave him a chance. you were risking not being liked back and it scared you. a lot. but you liked him anyway

• hunter took a bit more time to catch feelings, but when he did, dear GOD the boy liked you so much. he was hesitant to like you at first, since he's never liked anyone at all (except edric maybe jk)

• you two were VERY oblivious of the others' feelings. i mean, of course at times it seemed like he liked you and you liked him, but neither of you wanted to assume anything without confirmation. so you both thought of the things you did as "friendly gestures" :'))

• a few of the guards kinda knew about the feelings you both had. they'd watch in amusement as hunter would excessively fix himself when going on a mission with you, and how you would plan out what to say before talking to hunter. they lowkey thought it was cute

• still though, neither of you dared to mention anything about the way you felt. even if it was completely obvious that you two were head over heels for each other

• you've had a crush on hunter for about 5 months before finally deciding to tell him. it was nerve-wrecking and you definitely gave it a lot of thought before deciding to do so, since you couldn't mess it up

• worst-case scenario is him rejecting you and hating your guts, but at least that's something you'll get off your chest. plus if you know he doesn't like you, it'll be easier for you to accept that you have to move on :')

• you can't hide it forever and whatever happens, happens

• you didn't make it too grand or anything because if you did, you'd be too anxious to make it all go as planned

you and hunter were in the hallways, walking to check on the other guards and make sure that they weren't goofing off

you two had your fair share of jokes while walking. of course, you're professional when it comes to your job, but who doesn't like a little laugh? how else were you both gonna get through your shifts without getting bored

you did this twice a week, so it wasn't anything new. but today was a big deal, because you would be telling hunter how you felt about him.

behind all of those laughs, believe me, you were about to explode

" hey, can i tell you something? "

" if this is another one of your kikimora height jokes then you don't even need to ask "

you laughed nervously

" you fucking bully, but seriously i need to....get something off my mind " 

" sure, i'm all pointed, one chipped, ears. are you okay? "

hunter may have been wearing his golden guard mask but you could tell he had a worried expression to go with the worry in his voice when he asked you.

you took a deep breath. no turning back now. well, you could say something else but you couldn't do that now. you've come so far and you've been thinking of this for so long.

hunter stopped walking and you lead him to an area in the halls where no one seemed to go.

you couldn't even see his face nor how he was reacting but it was still tense
