Twenty Three

JULIA STAYED INSIDE the hospital for a week before her doctor finally decided to release her. She was already doing fine, but it was mandatory for her to be monitored.

She was allowed to go out of her room, but she cannot visit her son on the other room for safety precautions. She was relieved by the news, but still, she wanted to see her son herself.

"Yeah... But Topp wasn't allowed to go out pa. He's still under monitor," malungkot niyang sagot.

"They still need to run some blood and other tests on him to make sure he's already okay." "Don't worry about your son. He's doing alright. Alalahanin mo muna ang sarili mo ngayon. The doctor said matagal daw gumaling 'yong stitches sa likod ng ulo mo. Total rest ang kailangan."

She frowned. "I've been resting inside this boring room for a week na.

She cannot face her son without remembering him. She cannot afford to make her son sad with his state. She wanted to be one of the reasons of his precious smiles.

She even asked Aurora and her parents to tell a summary of her life in those missing three years that passed para lang matulungan ang kaniyang isip na alalahanin ang mga 'yon, but no avail.

Wala talaga siyang maalala.

When she told her doctor about it, sinabi naman nito na normal lang na hindi agad-agad na bumabalik ang kaniyang mga nawawalang alaala. It wasn't that easy to regain her lost memories in just a short span of time. She needed patience and understanding. She needed to take it slow.

"Maybe kapag nakalanghap na ako ng fresh air, may maaalala na ako," she joked about going out of the hospital.

"Maybe you literally need fresh air," gatong ni Aurora sa sinabi niya. "Let's take a vacay kaya? What do you think?"

Nagdududa niyang tinignan ang kaibigan. "Hindi ba you told me you still need to go back to Milan for your work?"

Ro blinked her eyes twice. Inosente pa itong tumitig sa kaniya. "I have work?"

Julia laughed and smack Ro's arm slightly. "Ako ang may amnesia rito, hindi ikaw."

Aurora laughed, too. "I know! Ayoko ngang magka-amnesia." She suddenly grinned at her. "But you know what? Blessing in disguise rin 'yang pagkawala ng alaala mo."
