It's been 16 long years since my parents died, I was found crying against the maiden statue by Karl heisenberg. He told me that he was out getting supplies when he herd the cries of a child. He said that he would have left me to die but suppose he had a change of heart.

-----

"for gods sake will you stop crying, jeez maybe I should have left you"

He carried me in his arms as my tears soaked his clothes. His warmth made me feel safe but I've lost everything.

"t-thank y-you mister"

"thank me when were back at the factory okay"

I nodded and sunk into a dreamless state.

Hours later I awoke to the sound of loud music, rubbing my eyes I saw I was in a old room, well used as there was stuff everywhere. Looking around I couldn't see the person that saved me from death. I hopped off the makeshift bed and had a little look around.

There are multiple tables here most of them are occupied by a mass covered by a white sheet. I didn't dare to look instead I followed the music to a room that had a large thing in a chair. I let out a small yelp of fear and back up crashing into a table, luckily not breaking anything.

The thing stayed motionless as I walked towards it its skin was stretched and embedded with metal. Hooked up to many wires and systems. I admired the handiwork as I realised that it was harmless.

As I got closer something moved behind the thing in another room. Before I could leave it spun around and looked directly at me.

"shit..."

I could barely hear them over the sounds of the machines.

"huh so your awake then. How are you feeling....?"

He walked closer to me and his low voice sounded familiar, the person that saved me. I looked at the floor.

"I'm okay thank you mister, sorry for intruding"

I heard him sigh and I looked up he took his sunglasses off and held the bridge of his nose.

"look, I really don't care that your here. Your not dead or critically injured so ill take you back to where you belong okay. Don't call me mister ether. Call me Karl."

I nodded not daring to look at him instead I stared at the thing in the chair.

"huh that doesn't scare you?"

I shook my head.

"I've seen worse than that"

Karl looked conserned about that and knelt down to my level.

"what do you mean?"

"I witnessed my mum and dad get eaten by a monster, that's why I was crying along with that thing almost killing me."

"woah um your pretty aware for... How old are you?"

"10"

Karls eyes softened and I could see he was sad. I went up to him and gave him a hug. He was taken back by this as he was really tence but soon he gave into the hug.

"thanks again Karl, oh and my name is (y/n)"

He smiled and put the glasses down on the table next to us and picked me up.

"I have an offer for you, if you want you can stay with me or I can find someone else"

"I want to stay with you!"

He let out a low laugh as he put me down.

"one rule do not wander at night or into rooms I say okay"

"isn't that 2?"

"wow okay your too smart for your own good."

I laughed and he took me by the hand showing me around the factory.
