As I lay in the darkness I slump into the bed and stare at the ceiling.

I look towards the window, it alows the pale moonlight to beam into my room. The dim glossy glow illuminated the dust partials which dance, floating effortlessly.

Fascinated I watched, glued to the swift movement, a loud sound broke me from the trance. It was still again till a silhouette formed in the light, it was a bird.

Letting out a small whimper I clutched onto the sheets. It could just me a wild bird. I rolled onto my side and closed my eyes, wanting to get some sleep.

My eyes stayed shut, weighted by the exuastion. The warmth of the quilt that covered me gave me some security knowing that I'm in a better place.

The caw of the bird in question made my eyes jolt open, small beads of sweat began to form on my forehead. I grasped leah as I forced my eyes shut again. Smelling the motor oil did nothing as my heart beat strengthened.

Hearing soft footsteps in my room I refused to look. They got closer along with a low laugh till I felt a cold hand on my mouth.

"come now child no need to fret, were a family"

A metal blade glinted in the moonlight, their eyes burnished with sadistic joy as the blade made contact with my skin.

I writhed under their grip, Tring to get free. I screamed on the top of my lungs with hot tears pour down my cheeks.

I suddenly sat up, watching my surroundings. Nobody was in sight. Checking my body there was no trace of cuts or blood.

Sweat soaked my hair and bed as I sat there with my head in my hands.

Then hurried footsteps became louder, I waited for them hoping it was Karl.

The door was busted in with a loud bang and Karl stood there in his trousers and tank top. His arms in the door way as he survayed my room.

He ran over to my tremoring body, dread marked his face, his eyes and brows furrowed and he sat on my bed.

"woah, woah... Breathe. What happened? Are you okay?"

He wrapped his arms around me in a secure manner I did the same as I needed this hug.

"I-it w-was a-a-a nightmare..."

"I got you your going to be okay, nothing not even a nightmare can get you now, your safe here."

"a-am I really?"

"yes why, why would you question that"

"she-she is a god so to speak and-and what am I?"

Karl looked shocked, he seemed angered and hurt.

"you may not be powerful, made of stone or even immortal but your someone that deserves the best. Your not alone, there is more to you than you know. I'm here as well, I've said it over and over, she won't be able to get to you. Not in this life, nor the next."

I sat in silence a tear rolling down. He sighed and moved a hair from my sweaty face.

" your not just a weak child incapable of protecting yourself or making change happen. Your like my child, I will happily protect you if you want or need me to."

I huged him tighter and he rested his chin on my head. I listened to his heatbeat, felt his chest rise and fall. Bringing my breathing back to normal.

He stood up and tucked me back in handing me leah.

"c-can I s-sleep in y-your room?"

He was stunned at my request

"um.. Uh.. Yeah sure if you want."

With that I got off the bed leaving leah behind. I held Karl's hand as we made way to his room.

Maybe I was safe?
