CHAPTER 14IRENE
It's one of the most unexpected days and things I've ever experienced. I can't believe two of the most important people in my life are sitting in front of a moving car, while I sit in the backseat, speechless at what has just occurred.
When Mister Henry told me that I could take the day off now until tomorrow and that two women were waiting for me in the guests room next to his office, I didn't know what to say or how to act. And the moment I open the door into it, I'm still wiping my hands because I'm in the kitchen, when two women appear and immediately hug me. Jennie and Chaeng were the people in question. Both of my best friends.
Shocked, happiness, nervousness, excitement, and other emotions overtook us, and we couldn't stop ourselves from crying because of seeing each other, which is why we spent a few minutes in the guests room asking me and cursing at me at the same time because I had hidden my location from them and how their wives had seen me first before these two.
There are a lot of questions I want to ask them, such as how they found me at work and what the hell they are doing here if I told them I'd meet them tomorrow, but one thing sticks out in my mind: how did they know where I was. They told them about my job at the restaurant, and I had no choice but to accompany them when they both dragged me out of the parking lot earlier.
My boss is also perplexed because the two women in front of me, driving the car and conversing with me, are familiar with me. When I return to the restaurant, this will be a foregone conclusion question and answer session, unless these two have already informed Mister Henry that I am their friend for whatever reason they have told him.
Flashback in the Restaurant
I was working and assisting with orders and menus, as well as serving some of the foods that had just been ordered by customers, when one of the staff informed me that Mister Henry wanted to speak with me, so I excused myself and went straight to his office. I also ran into Miss Syl in the hallway, and she smiled at me, and I returned her smile.
I knock on the door first before entering Mister Henry's office, and he looks at me as if he's been expecting me.
"First, Hyun, take a seat." He said this while pointing the chair in front of his table, and I looked at him, waiting for him to tell me something or command me to do something. "Do you have any tasks for me, sir?" I ask him politely, and he simply shakes his head, signaling a nonverbal no.
I'm not sure if he looks tense because of his aura, or if I'm the only one who thinks that way because his aura makes him look stressed, or if something is bothering him. "I know you're in the kitchen right now, but you need to leave, Hyun."
"What do you mean, sir, I need to go?" I ask him, perplexed, and I'm not sure what he's telling me to do. "You may take today off until tomorrow." I frown as he continues.
"But, sir, tomorrow is my day off. I'm still not finished with the kitchen. It must be unjust to the other chef if I leave them there knowing we still have work to do and get done." I was trying to tell him that it was going to be unfair, and then all of a sudden he's releasing me to take my day off now until tomorrow. What exactly is going on?
"Simply take the day off now until tomorrow. You are free to depart." He said it again, and I'm not still standing up from my chair, so where am I? "After you get your belongings, there will be two people waiting for you in the guest room. Simply double your time. They might become bored. There will be no more buts. You may depart at this time."
I was speechless and perplexed. I said my goodbyes to him before leaving his office, and I stopped in front of the door and looked at the guest room next to his office, sighed, and started walking towards the girls locker room to change my chef attire, and I was packing my things when Wheein entered the girls room, still wearing her chef attire, and she looked at me confusedly.
