CHAPTER 28

JENNIE

Knowing that one of your best friends is in danger due to a brain tumor is like we're on a cliff pulling her up so she doesn't fall off. It's difficult for me to think and focus on my work when Irene is in our hospital. It's difficult. It's difficult to be okay, even though I know it's not okay to be stressed right now because I'm pregnant. Both Chae and I aren't supposed to be stressed out, so I try to keep myself entertained as much as possible.

My parents are both preoccupied with the Irene case, which will be handled in the United States next week. Both of them are busy, and I'm not going to ask them too many questions about it because it was too confidential and needed to be handled as thoroughly as possible. In Irene's case, time is of the essence.

My Mom and Dad, on the other hand, were still dropping some fruits for me and a message about how I was feeling because they knew I was pregnant.

When Seulgi sent a message earlier this afternoon in our group chat conversation. I came to a halt while reading and analyzing some designs that they had forwarded to me. That's why I spent the entire afternoon at Lisa's company, which is located next to my brand building, and spoke with Chae, who had probably seen it as well. We were all concerned, saddened, and dissatisfied with Bae's condition.

She lied to us, but I can understand why. But this was far too much and unexpected, putting her life in jeopardy. Until we paid a quick visit to her in the hospital earlier to check on her and saw how Seulgi's eyes were swollen. She sobbed.

Bae's parents were not present, and Seul informed us that they went home to change their clothes and rest for a few minutes before returning to the hospital, and that she would do the next one to leave and change after they returned. She also informed us that they will be leaving the country next week to perform the surgery alongside my parents.

This journey will be a long one for Bae and her family, as well as Seulgi's. Also, even though we won't be in the states to perform the surgery, we will not abandon her and will continue to support her. We will pray for her successful surgery next week, and we hope and look forward to the day when she will be back as a healthy person with no tumor in her brain. We want her to return to Seoul alive. But Seulgi's sentence lingered in my mind until now.

The tumor is affecting some parts of her brain, which will cause damage to her other organs and systems if we do not leave the country as soon as possible to have the surgery. We might lose forever and we won't be able to see her again.

I'm considering it. I can't help but overthink and possibly cry at the same time. We only returned from the hospital two hours ago, but it hasn't left my mind. It's exhausting and stressful. What else can I say about her parents and Seulgi? It's gotten worse.

I want to stay at the hospital until Bae wakes up, but we have our children with us who need to be cared for, so we have to leave right away, despite the fact that it is only a short visit. Yeah. When we arrived, Bae had not awakened, and this was due to the medication that had been injected into her as a result of the pain in her brain.

"Heey. Ruby Jane, honey." I was taken aback when Lisa returned my hug, and I almost forgot I was in our room after taking a warm shower in our bathroom.

We had also finished taking care of our twins, which had been a huge help and distraction from thinking about my best friend situation for an hour, and we had dinner with Mommy Chitthip and Daddy Marco. But after the twins fell asleep in their room and we had to return to our room, the thoughts of Irene's situation ate me again.

"I was speaking to you, but you weren't paying attention. I know you're worried about Irene, but we can't do anything to remove the tumor from her; all we can do is pray for her and support her on her journey, honey." That's what she said to me, and it made me sigh.
