the gynecologist was someone that always freaked ten out, even as a kid whenever he had to get his checkups in high school after presenting as an omega.

he had vowed never to get pregnant, and if high schooler ten saw himself right now, he would've had a heart attack.

present ten is on the bed, laying down as the doctor slathers a cold gel all over his exposed baby bump. johnny is holding his hand in comfort, his heart pacing in his chest. he's gone with ten to his monthly check ups in the past, but it's been xiaojun who's been going with him more often than not since johnny's been busy with work.

"have you been taking your vitamins?" the doctor asks, turning on the ultrasound machine. she grabs the scanner and hovers it ontop of ten's belly. the omega nods at her question, shuddering as she roams the scanner on his bump.

"no complications or anything?"

"just a few cramps here and there, but it's nothing too painful. i've also been getting quite dizzy and my uhm...breasts have been swelling up too..." ten sheepishly says the last part, a faint blush on his cheeks. the doctor smiles, keeping her eyes trained on the screen of the ultrasound machine.

"ah, those are normal symptoms of being in the second trimester— do you want to know what gender your baby is?" she asks. the couple share a look before shaking their heads. "we want for it to be a surprise," johnny says.

on the trip to the doctors, johnny and ten had came to an agreement where they would keep the gender a surprise till birth, plus it will be a nice little surprise to their friends and family if they have a boy or girl.

the doctor nods, doing a few things to check the baby's health and such. when she was done, she shuts off the machine and puts everything back together, wiping away the gel on ten's tummy.

"okay, so baby is healthy which is good, and you said your only complications were cramps and swollen breasts?" ten nods, fixing his sweater. "those are completely normal, especially since this is your first pregnancy, no?" she asks once again. "alright, so your body might have a hard time adjusting to these new things, unlike a person who's been pregnant twice or thrice." she writes down a few things on her paper.

"okay so a good thing is that your baby is in the heads-first position, which is the standard position for when mommy or daddy gives birth, wether vaginal or cesarean." she explains further about the baby's condition that ten listens to properly while johnny zones out, thinking about what would happen once the baby's out.

he'll have to get a request form to stay home (despite being the ceo).

after the check up, ten bounces out of the clinic with a happy grin. "what's got you so bubbly?" johnny asks, unlocking the car. ten shrugs, swinging their intertwined hands together. "nothing, really. just seeing our baby just makes me happy, that's all." ten confesses, slipping inside the passengers side.

johnny follows, getting in the driver's spot. "actually, i kinda wanted to know what gender the baby was, but i also wanted for it to be a surprise," ten adds. while the doctor was scanning his tummy, he was about to blurt out to her that he wanted to know the gender of the baby until she started talking and made him lose his train of thought

the alpha chuckles, turning on the ignition. "i think kun and hansol did the same thing," he refers to the gender surprise, which is where ten originally got the idea from after being on a phone call with kun and talking about their kids.

"with taeyong, i can't remember if they did the same gender surprise or they already knew about it at the check up," johnny thinks, resting his elbow on the window sill while his other hand maneuvered the steering wheel. "i think they already knew before hand because jaehyun was impatient," ten replies.
