**Author's POV**

Sam: kya app school ke baad nhi baat kr skte ... please abhi mere daant khane ka mood nhi hai ...

Avni: nhi ... school ke baad we have to go somewhere..

Sam: ooh ya ... we need to go to grandpa's house ... mamu told yesterday... yess i am soo excited ... phir toh abhi hi daant lo ...

And she was about to protest but kept quite...
.
Avni: do u even remember why i wanted to talk to you ..

Sam: yes, because i was stating the facts

Avni (sternly): Samm ...

Sam: because i was saying bad about .. papa ..

Avni: better...

And she looked at his sad face ... and it hurted her to see him like this ...

Avni: come here ...

And he sat in her lap ...

Avni: What's is the most important thing in your life?

Sam: You..

Avni: dad?

Sam: I don't like him... even you shouldn't.. he shouts on you and he even slap you ...

Avni: baby .. u are too small to think all that ... To you he is father .. and that is what is more important... there might be times when mom and dad doesn't do well together... but that doesn't mean that u have to choose sides ..he will be your father always as i am your mother.. and you might not realize now but you will need him .. and you will miss him ... as much as he misses you .. he loves you and i don't want you to hate him ... this word HATE is stronger then you know and you won't even realize when it consume you ... so never use it .. specially for your own father...

Sam: But why did he do that? And if he is not bad then why are we living here ?

Avni: Baby .. i don't know how to tell you... and i am not even sure if you will understand... okay lemme phrase it in a different way ... me and Riyaz we .. we had a fight , a big fight and now we don't want to be together anymore ...

Sam: what fight??

Avni: you don't have to know it yet... once u are big enough i will tell you myself... and then u can even choose the sides but for now ... u have to be with mumma ... but at the same time ... you have to love and respect your father ...

Sam: love and respect isn't forced... you only said right?

And she became quite not knowing how to explain it to her little son ... she knew how difficult it is to live without a father... she was old enough when she left hers but Sam is a child and he deserves both his parents love and so does her unborn daughter.. and until Sam wouldn't be connected to his father.. she wouldn't.... whereas for Sam loving the man who slapped her mother was difficult,  even if it was his own father ... whenever he closes his eyes and remmember his father, his angry, furious face is what comes in front... he is scared of him , not only for what he did to his mother but also for what he might to do him... He might be just a 4 year old kid , who might not understand what is happening or why is he living there or why has there lives turned upside down but he knows that her mother is in trouble,  she is pain and she is trying her best to get them a good life... he has heard her mother crying in the bathroom,  he has seen her going pale when she didn't find a job ... he knows that something is seriously wrong even if he isn't able to point the real reason ... so he is doing what is in his power , he is smiling and agreeing to his mother ...

Sam: its okay mom ... i will do what you say ... i will talk bad about him ...

He said smiling.. and she held him close , while trying to hold back her tears...

Avni: okay lets get ready otherwise you are gonna be late for school and i am gonna be late for work ...

Sam: okayy..
.
And he get up to ran towards the bathroom... while she changed outside ... she looked in the mirror to tie her hair into a ponytail,  when she noticed dark circles under her eyes ... she looked quite pale ... she put her hand on her belly and creased it ...

Avni : I am sorry baby , mumma is not eating well , mumma is just .... I am sorry but I will try to do better . I am going to a gyno today and I know we will be better .

.

And she turned right to look at her not so big baby bump and her face lightened up suddenly ... And with that she left for the work , after saying goodbye to Sam of course ...

She returned back home with a bright smile , calling for his little champ and rewarding him with his favourite strawberry shake along with a donut . After all he behaved so mature in the morning ... But the room was empty ..

Avni: Sam ... Baby kha ho app .. washroom mein ho kya ?

And she knocked the door to get no reply ..

Avni: Sam baby dekho don't mess with mumma .. come out stop hiding ...

And when again didn't get any reply , she opened the door to find the no one ... and her heart beat fasten ..

Avni: Relax , relax Avneet he might with playing with that dog .. 

.

She tried to calm herself but miserably failed at it ... She ran to her neighboring room and asked for him but he wasn't there as well..
