She came out of her room, after hearing the doorbell... When she saw Riyaz, it has been more than 2 hours and he was still here, looking at him she couldn't help but smile...

Aly: You don't look so well, here, have water... Let me open the door...
.
He said before going to open the door and after giving her the same glass of water she gave him... She sipped from it as she saw him opening the door... He opened the door to see Sam, who just came back from school... 
.
Sam: Mumma...
.
He yelled being sacred after seeing Riyaz, his eyes searched for Avni and when he saw her, he ran to her and hid behind her...
.
Sam: Mumma he, are you- are you okay?

Avni: Yes baby, I am okay... Don't be scared...

Sam: What is he doing here?

Avni: He came to talk, nothing to be scared about...

Aly: Hi Sam...
.
He whispered to him, hoping for a reply... Which made Sam looked at Avni, who nodded her head positively with a small smile hoping the same...

Sam (very low): H-h-hi... 

Avni: You can go and freshen up...

Sam: No, mumma-
.
He talked back, not wanting to leave his mother alone with Riyaz...

Avni: It's okay, he is just leaving... 
.
And he nodded before going inside...

Aly: How are you feeling?

Avni: Not okay...

Aly: I know you have a lot of questions and doubts, you can go to your gynecologist in evening at 5, I have taken appointment... If you want, I can come too or you can take anybody you trust...

Avni: I am sure if I want to tell anyone about it right now...

Aly: *nods* I understand... I myself haven't told anybody, including Anushka... I should go then, call me if you need anything...

And he left... Avni too went to her room after closing the main door...

Sam: Why was he here?

Avni: I told you, he wanted to talk about something...

Sam: About what?

Avni: It is nothing you need to worry about... 

Sam: Was he rude to you?

Avni: No...

Sam: Then why are your eyes so puffy and red?

Avni: It is not because of him, I promise... You don't have to worry... He is not that bad...

And he gave her a 'oh really' look...

Avni: Yes really, he is your father and he is not a bad man... 

Sam: For me he is...

Avni: Sam...

Sam: I don't like him; can you please make your peace with it?

Avni: That is how you talk to your mom?

Sam: Acha okay tell me if he everything is okay then how come did you forgot to ask me about my result? I was supposed to get my report card today...

Avni: Oh, I am sorry... It skipped my mind; I am really sorry...

Sam: You forgetting about my result day? Impossible... Tell me what is going on mom...

Avni: Nothing is going on... Acha show me your report card...

And he showed him...

Avni: 5th position in the class, not bad, not bad... Anaya might be first again...

Sam: No, actually she didn't get any position this time... She got C's in most of her tests...

Avni: What? 

Sam: Ya, she has changed a lot... I assume something is wrong... She didn't talk that much, she sits alone in class, she doesn't do her homework... Even when I stayed at her place this time, her behavior was very different, she was quieter and more reserved...

Avni: Haven't your teacher noticed it?

Sam: They have and that is why she told Anaya to bring her father school tomorrow... Even though she has been like that from months but teacher only saw when her academic performance went down...

And she nodded wondering if it is Siddharth and Anushka's separation that affected Anaya... She was lucky that events with Sam and his father turned out the way it did... She might not like the hatred Sam has for Riyaz but she can't deny the fact that it all would have been 10 times more difficult if things were good between them...

Avni: Okay leave all this, let's have lunch and then after taking some rest you can go to Mayank's house...

Sam: Really?

Avni: Yes, you did so good in class; you can celebrate with him...

Sam: And with you?

Avni: We will do that soon too... Now, help me with lunch...

She walked alone on the way to her gynecologist's clinic, she entered 'the' corridor when she Riyaz standing there...

Avni: You?

Aly: Vo you said that you don't want anyone to know right now, so I assumed that want me to come; if not then, I can go...

Avni: NO... um- stay...

And he smiled at her, and she smiled back softly... They entered and Dr. Singh (she is a woman) greeted them and they greeted back...

Dr: How are you feeling?

Avni: I don't know... A part of me is like it's okay, your baby is going be just fine but the other part is so heavy and just couldn't believe this... Like, how and why was I not tested before...

Dr: Usually, there are two reasons of why a child is born with down syndrome... First, is the family history which you don't have and second is when the mother is aged, which again is not the case with you... Also, you have a son before and he is absolutely normal... These things combined is why we ourselves couldn't even think that the baby could have down syndrome... That is why you weren't tested in your first and second trimester... And the reason here could be stress during the intercourse... 

Avni: *nods* Are we sure about it?

Dr: The test is 98% accurate... Almost for sure...

And she looked down, trying to fight her tears... 
.
Dr: The percentage accuracy is the reason that we advise the mother to abort... I know its emotionally difficult to hear but a very practical solution... People often such take decisions emotionally and then regret because it is not just about how will you raise the kid but also how will that kid survive... Living with disability is extremely difficult, especially with such a disability in which the average life expectancy is 25 years...
