(A/N: For those who have been asking me Sam and Anaya are approximately 9 in this chapter... I know that they behave more maturely in the story than they should and that is all my fault... I didn't give it a long thought while the story started and I just couldn't show them naive and unaware and unbothered during the story... I might change their age while editing the story after it is all complete and make a timeline for readers' better understanding but for now, bear with me... I am sorry...)

-Avneet's Side-

Avni: Baby, what do you feel about having a new dad?

Sam: Huh? New dad?

Avni: Ya, I mean stepdad... What do you feel about mom marrying again?

Sam: I know the concept, mom...

Avni: You do?

Sam: Mom, I have at least 5 friends whose parents have been separated... Me and Anaya we talk about this stuff a lot more than you want us to...

Avni: I am sorry...

Sam: It is not your fault mom... It is just I have never heard you talking about remarriage before...

Avni: Well, I had it on my mind but I was too afraid to tell you...

Sam: Well, you shouldn't be... Because you told me about all this randomly scares me more... I know a mom that you think I am too small for all this and I am, I guess, but I saw him raising a hand at you and I don't think I could go back to being an innocent, naive kid...

Avni: And that terrifies me... It would be best if you didn't go through that...

Sam: But you can't do anything about this...

Avni: Sam...

Sam: Mom, all this is as much of my life as it is yours... If he was your husband then he was my father too, if this new guy will be your husband, then he will be my stepdad too... I cannot not think about all this or worry about all this... And to answer your question about how I feel about having a new dad is that I would love to have one as long as he is not like my old dad...

Anaya(interrupts): You are going to talk about marriage, aren't you?

Sid: Huh? Do you know?

Anaya: I got a call from Sam an hour ago... He wasn't supposed to tell me but he is my best friend... He has to say to me...

Sid: What are your thoughts, then?

Anaya: I- I have mixed emotions... Having a stepmom is huge... And I am not sure how I feel about calling someone else mom other than my real mom but knowing it is Avneet aunty I feel kind of relieved plus Sam will be my stepbrother which is kind of exciting... At least I won't be tortured like Cinderella... But still, it is my mom you are replacing...

Sid: I am not replacing her... No one replaces the other, one just makes its own space... Plus, your mom has moved on, she is living happily with the man she loves... She visits you once or twice a week and she is happy... But for me, I am alone and I crave a partner... I like, I love Avneet... And I want to spend my life with her... I know that it is a very big change for you, but it is for me... And I would appreciate you accepting it with a whole heart...

Anaya: And what if I don't... Will you not marry her?

Sid: I will... I have this right to choose my life partner... I love you baby but we have dragged this enough because you and Sam and Jaya and I don't think it's fair for us to do that more... I know I am sounding like a very bad dad but I have made this decision thinking about you too... I would never ignore you and your needs and wants... I know you would need a mother at some point in your life... The relationship that a mother and a daughter share are very unique and special and you will crave that when you see your other friends sharing that with their mother... And I can't think of anyone better than her to be your mother... You will agree with that, you have seen how incredible a parent she is to Sam and Jaya...

Anaya: Okay...

Sid: Okay what?

Anaya: You have my blessings for this wedding...

And he excitedly picked her in his arms and kissed her cheek... He put her down before mumbling in excitement...

Anaya: I love you too dad...

Sid: She will treat you right Anaya... Trust me...

How was the chapter?

This chapter took me forever to write because everything I wrote seemed too mature to come out of these kids' mouths... I am not 100% happy with the work today but I tried my best...
