You're a Black/POC Cosplayer

Drabble Oneshot, so not really formatted like I usually would.

I needed to vent so, a Drabble vent.

Mentions of discrimination, bullying, and toxic fandoms, mentions of race.

This happens a lot, don't believe me go on tik tok and Twitter.

(My sister recently told me that a black guy cosplayed as Luffy on twitter and a lot of people were saying things like 'Monkey' D. Luffy or Oh yeah, he's definitely a 'Monkey' or something along the lines of that.)

You started cosplaying when you were in high school. You're always saving up for outfits, contacts, accessories, etc.

One thing you would like to do when it would come to the colored wigs, you would usually have it curly, wavy, or close to your natural hairstyle.

Shoto, was a proud supporter and your #1 fan.

He loves watching you getting dressed as that character and doing your videos. It's one of the little things that bring his life joy.

One day, Shoto was scrolling through your page and seeing all the sweet things your followers were saying until he stumbled upon something...sour.

'You can't cosplay as Erza, she's not black'

"What the Fuck is this?!"

You were caught off guard because Shoto barely raises his voice.

"You good?" You asked, a little nervous from his outburst.

Shoto shows you the comment and you roll your eyes. "I get those all the time."

"What do you mean you get these all the time?"

"I mean I get them all the time, it's not a day I don't get these type of comments."

You explained to Todoroki that you would often get some not so nice comments because you're cosplaying as character and people think that you shouldn't, just because you're a certain skin tone/race.

Shoto was pretty pissed off after hearing that.

"But, the character isn't white either unless said otherwise." He says.

"I know." You say.

"So, what they're saying only white people can cosplay?" Shoto arched his brow.

"Pretty much, they're starting to target Asians and Islanders for Cosplaying too." You say.

"They wouldn't even have Anime if it wasn't for us! What are they so pissed about?!"

"Don't know baby, but it's not stopping me from cosplaying." You say while going to grab something to eat.

Shoto hasn't gotten over the whole situation about the hate comments. You did tell him it really did upset you when you first started cosplaying, but when you started to make money off it, it hurt you less.

You would still get hate comments and people telling you to stop cosplaying. And Shoto would sometimes threaten the commenters saying he will fight them.

"Shoto, No." You say while looking at him writing a threat.

"I wanna see if they're bold enough to come say it face to face."

"Alright, I'm taking your phone." You say.

You love your boyfriend, but he needs to stop hanging out with Bakugou.
