"Get up, you useless bitch!"
Maya spat on the ground. Her muscles freezing with pain. Her white shirt covered entirely in mud. The girls in front of her laughed at her. Her knees and elbows scraped. Blood oozing out of her lips.
She stood up, rubbing the blood away using the back of her hand. One of the girls tugged her hair. She felt as if she was going to rip her scalp off.
"Look, the ugly duckling's acting brave!"
The girl chewed on a chewing gum, the other two crossed their arms and one even dared to slap Maya,
"Tsk... Tsk... Fatso. You should have picked on someone your standard. Dirty and fat and ugly. You curry eating dumbo."
They pushed her away as they exchanged hi fives. They walked away, while Maya struggled to even breathe. Tears flowing out of her eyes. How? What was wrong with her? She was just not porcelain and thin. She didn't have straight, silky hair and a thigh gap. But that doesn't mean she has to be treated this way! She rubbed her tears and blood. It's no time to sulk. She has a job to attend.
"Have you tried bleaching?"
Maya rolled her eyes. She's heard it so many times. She turned away from her colleague and decided to pay attention on the counter. Her lips swelling up, a purple patch forming around her eyes.
"Hello."
She greeted the customer, almost hiding her face.
"Who did that to you?"
He gritted his teeth. How could they? His doe eyes on the verge of tearing up. She was beaten up brutally. Maya didn't look up,
"What would you like to order, sir?"
"I'm asking you ma'am, who did that to you? I can help if..."
Maya, fed up of everything, glared at him,
"Sir, you are a customer and the only thing befitting to talk about now is what would you like to order."
He thought, he was about to die, out of shock. Girls go crazy over him. But... But she glared at him! He gulped under her burning gaze,
"The usual please."
Maya nodded and faked a smile,
"I'm new here. I don't know what's your usual order sir."
"I-I would just take an americano."
He looked at her. She was one strong woman. Her glare, her speech, her confidence. A bell rang.
"Unnie, one americano."
She said, her voice even pleasant than honey. Warm, seductive and confident. Jungkook stood there, still. She radiated some kind of energy. A warm energy. Jungkook felt like giving her the whole world.
"Anything else, sir?"
He pursed his lips, his doe eyes almost popping out of the sockets,
"No ma'am."
She smirked. The strong, well built man with a whole tattoo sleeve was scared of her. Yet she was the biggest coward. Ironic!
Her shift was done. She walked out of the shop pretty late. Her coat hugging her body back. She felt two eyes on her back. Two doe eyes.
"Do you need any help sir?"
Her voice deeper than the ocean itself. He stopped in his tracks. How did she know? Wait... Did she really think him as a stalker? His time to prove himself innocent.
"Ma'am, I mean no harm and I will walk away if you don't feel safe around me or are uncomfortable. But trust me, I will not do anything. I am completely harmless. I just couldn't get you out of my head. Like, those wounds, the tears right at the corner of your eyes. I don't know why, I felt really bad and... And wanted to help you. I'm sorry if I disturbed you, it's just that, your wounds just were too brutal."
Maya laughed, slowly turning to face him. The ghost of her past laugh still evident in her voice,
"Does an idol worry so much about a normal girl? That too the most desired idol. I bet I'm about to have some sasaengs on me any moment."
"You knew?"
"Knew what?"
"That I was an Idol!"
"Yeah, you are too handsome to not be scouted. And your voice is just pure heaven. Besides, every girl wants you. You are on every billboard. The Hwanggeum Maknae."
The smirk made her look even more attractive in his eyes. But he didn't want to look like he was easy to please.
"Fine,"
He crossed his arms on his chest and poked his cheek with the help of his tongue,
"But I seriously want to help! Ma'am, please let me help you. Please let me be your friend?"
"I don't make friends that easily, Jeon..."
The voice became distorted. The colours in the dreams mixing into a kaleidoscope. The last thing Maya remembered seeing, was the doe eyed boy. Jeon... Jeon... Jeon.
Maya sprung up, drenched in sweat. Her baby hairs sticking to her forehead. Her sweatshirt felt uncomfortable, as it was stuck to her body. The sweat was acting like a glue of some sort. She threw the sweatshirt away and fell back on the ground. Her eyes wandering to empty ceiling. The same world.
She untied her hair. The coffee mug broken into pieces. She chuckled. Unlike her, the coffee mug wasn't used to falling. She turned to her side to see the caffeine stained floor. She examined it for a second. She turned over on her back. She surely was going mad, or else why would the coffee stain remind her of the doe eyed boy? What did she even dream of again?
Girls bullying her... Beating her up... She showing up on her job with wounds... A customer showing concern about her... A rather good looking customer... An idol who wanted to befriend her... Help her...
Doe eyes, ear piercings, tattoos, black oversized clothings, buff body, combat boots.
It was starting to hurt her. Maya just wanted to get some sleep. Was it too much to ask? A night withoit nightmares. It's weird, after what happened tonight, it's just not a coincidence.
She was remembering bits and fragments about that doe eyed boy. Then the numbing pain and just as the clock struck twelve, she felt as if she was been ducked into another portal. It all can't be coincidence!
