"Hi I'm Jungkook. Please leave a voicemail."
Maya huffed, tugging her hair in frustration. Her teeth sank deep on her bottom lip. She squinted her eyes before recording the voice mail.
"Hey Gguk. I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something important but can you please call me back as soon as you can? I love you."
Maya sunk down in her bed. What just happened to her last night?
Maya looked around. A whimsical place. No this wasn't the place she woke up every night. There was a thin mist touching her. A colourful smoke surrounded her. It smelt of cotton candies. Candles glowing around her. A bright light numbing her eyesight for a second. She wasn't dreaming. She wasn't.
"Greetings young lady, I'm glad you are here
Tell me now, don't you think the ending's near?"
Maya walked towards the woman, wearing colourful layers. Frustration clearly written on her face, as the woman smiled warmly.
"Where am I? Why are you in my dreams? Why isn't it that realm?"
The fortune teller kept smiling. Her eyes peeking through Maya's soul. Maya slapped the table really hard.
"Tell me!"
Rosemertha chuckled,
"Well well, was it your lover or wa sit on your own?
The delicate rose from ages ago has grown thorns.
Let me remind you the rules, looks like you forgot
You better match your rhyme, if you want words."
Maya rolled her eyes. Annoyed at everything around her. Why was all this feeling so real? Why was it that everything felt unlike a dream.
"Tell me fast, you are getting on my last nerve lady
Where I am? Where the hell have you brought me?"
"Ah! Language my dearest child!
You seem so soft at first glance..."
Rosemertha stopped. Her eyes popping out of the scoket. She quickly mumbled,
"You didn't seem wild."
Maya scoffed, seeing how nervous Rosemertha became. Close call. This time she survived the fall. Will she everytime?
"Since you won't tell wjere you brought me
Let's talk, should I call you Mertha or Rosie?"
"I'm more than a century older you brat!
Give me the respect I deserve..."
A siren rang. The air carelessly carrying it,
"Warning! Warning! Warning!"
Rosemertha tried to rephrase. Her mind going blurry. Her smirk nowhere to be seen. Her tongue got tied almost in a knot,
"You filthy rat!"
Maya chuckled. Leaning a bit. Cobfidence in her eyes. She twirled a card in between her fingers,
"So what you are a century old? You still are immature
Your cards are the biggest liars, just like you, I'm sure."
Rosemertha's whole face went red. The veins at the back of her neck popping out. Maya just smiled.
"Tell me, exactly how a foolish woman got the duty for our dreams?
Were the angels drunk out pf there wits?
Or dear Rosie, did you take unfair means?"
Rosemertha always was driven by her ego. And only her ego. She slapped the table with all her might, screaming at the very calm, Maya,
"You bitch! Scoundrel! How dare you even think that I took unfair means? My cards never lie. The Heavens chose me because of my pure talent! How dare you insult me like this! You even called me Rosie! You little..."
A ear threatening sound went off. Rosemertha screamed in agony. She howled,
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Just give me this one chance!"
The noise doubled. Maya didn't even flinch. She just sat there, comfortably. The loud noise was way less than the pain she experienced once.
The wacky hat on top of Madame Rosemertha flew a feet above and burst into tiny sparkles. She got on her knees. Head hanging low,
"You've gotten the upper hand over me. You are now my master. Take my place madame. I'll gladly turn into a card or a soul..."
"I don't want that Rosie. I want answers."
"But madame..."
"I am your Mistress! Don't you dare say another word. Just give me the damn answers."
"But Madame..."
"Seriously, which part did you not understand. I'm your mistress. Do you dare disobey your mistress Rosie?"
Rosemertha's head hung lower. Fear taking ober her body. She whispered,
"The coffee shop. There's where it began, Madame."His head was hurting like crazy. His throat was entirely parched. Lips chapped. He saw his other Hyungs lying in the living space as well. They all passed out drinking. All except his Hoseok and Yoongi Hyung.
"JK. I'm glad you're awake. You're phone was ringing like crazy. Now, do you want a glass of water or something? Yoongi Hyung is cooking up some hangover soup."
Hoseok smiled at the youngest. Jungkook frowned at his screen. He huffed,
"Maya can't live a few hours without me. Can she?"
"Aw! You both are so cute. So in love with each other."
Hoseok chimed. Mistaking Jungkook's annoyance as a rather sign of joy. His brain cells soake dthat in. Yes, they were in love. His brain commanded his lips to smile.
He excused himself from his Hyungs, dialing her number. She was his responsibility. He had made a promise. There went the merry go round again.
"Hi."
"You're hungover again? Are you feeling bad? Does your head hurt too much? Was yesterday harsh on you?"
He rolled his eyes. What was he? A kid? Why does she have to baby him? It's his head that hurts. It's he who feels like crap.
"Yeah. Whatever. I'm really not feeling myself. But I woke up and saw you called and sent a voice message. So what's all that for?"
Maya heard his every word. Maybe he was feeling a bit too sick. He can't be rude. Can he? They love each other. She took a breath before dusting away the worry she had in the first sentences she spoke,
"Well, I don't know if it was a dream or not. But I think I found a clue..."
"A clue about what?"
"A clue about the realms. A way to stop all this. You know..."
"How?"
Maya rolled her eyes. Why was he cutting her off. What was wrong with him. She whined,
"Lemme finish what I'm saying Jungkook. Why are you cutting me off so many times?"
She tugged at her hair. Squintimg her eyes in frustration. Why wasn't he listening to him like the old days?
