As the taxi cab came to a slow halt in front of the hospital, King snatched his bag and gave the driver a $50.00 bill without waiting for his change. He rushed to the lobby and requested Penelope's bedroom, but Officer Barrett and Carmichael stopped him.

"We have been looking for you sir, are you ok?" Officer Barrett asked.

"Do I look ok to you?" King asked, irritated.

"I am not interrogating you, you were reported as missing. We are just trying to figure out what is going on that's all. We are not your enemy here!" Officer Barrett said.

"Actually you are, more than once have you tried to pin crimes on me that I am not responsible for. I don't trust nor like you and I would appreciate it if you would stay away from me!" King yelled at the officers and then darted off.

"There is something off about that man!" Officer Barrett said.

"I don't know, maybe you should cool it before you get in trouble," Officer Carmichael replied.

"Get in trouble for that dude? No way! I'm telling you there is something wrong here," Officer Barrett said.

"Oh yeah? And what evidence do you have to go off of?" Officer Carmichael argued.

"My gut!" Officer Barrett replied.

"Well guts don't hold up in court, not let's get moving. We still haven't informed them of the death of the other driver," Officer Carmichael said.

King ran up the stairs and didn't wait for the elevator. Penelope's room was on the third floor, so one can imagine just how many stairs that is to run while ascending. A few minutes later, King made it to the third floor without stopping or seeming out of breath. He burst into Penelope's room to find her lying in bed with tubes coming out of her mouth and other parts of her body. He kept repeating, "No, no, no, what did I do!" He was so distraught that it didn't even occur to him that his adopted parents, Penelope's parents, and his other two best friends were in the room. He just rushed to Penelope's bedside and grabbed her hand. Everyone remained quiet until they heard King say to Penelope that he needed her to wake up, so that they could have more time to be siblings. Penelope's mom stood to her feet from where she was sitting with a face full of tears and began to yell at her husband.

"Siblings? You told them? Is this why she is in this state?!" Ms. Cruz yelled at Mr. Cruz.

"Isabella, not now!" Mr. Cruz replied.

"No, you are going to answer me! Are you the reason behind my baby's accident?" Ms. Cruz continued.

"Well I certainly wasn't in the vehicle with her, so how can that be possible? Isabella, please don't start, not now," Mr. Cruz snarled.

"Beverly, does Penelope know about King?" Ms. Cruz asked Beverly.

"Don't you answer that young lady!" Mr. Cruz interrupted.

"You don't owe him anything, speak! Besides, you are an adult and you can make your own decisions. Tell me hun, does she know?" Ms. Cruz pleaded.

"Mr. Cruz, I have kept enough of your secrets and she is right. I do not owe you anything. Yes, Penelope knows!" Beverly said.

"What do you mean when you said that you have kept enough of his secrets?" Ms. Cruz said moving closer to Beverly.

"Enough! We need to focus on Penelope, not a drama class!" Mr. Cruz yelled.

"Shut up David, or I promise you I will call channel 2 news station about your love child here," Ms. Cruz yelled.
