The door leading into the room of requirement was flung wide open when I passed it again. Night had descended upon the castle like it had sensed the impending threat of evil that had entered and sought to set the mood for their destruction. It was quiet, far too quiet. Where the death eaters had headed was a mystery, one I hoped to solve before before the first spill of blood. Everything seemed to come to a head in the moments I darted through the corridors, straining my ears for any source of noise. I nearly ran headfirst into Lupin, who pat me on the shoulder with a grim smile before heading off, searching for the same thing I was. I made to turn the corner into the hallway that lead up to the astronomy tower when my foot froze before it could reveal myself. I pressed my body flat against the chilling wall to conceal myself as I listened to the scene unfold just a few feet away

"Lookie here, lads, I've caught myself a mudblood" Alecto's crooning voice echoed through the halls, clutching a terrified Hermione by the hair, a switchblade digging tightly into her neck
"GET YOIR FILTHY HANDS OFF HER" Ron's furious voice roared, and a bundle of cackling laughter could be heard
"You take another step and I'll gut her like a fish and feed what's left of her to Fenrir" Alecto threatened, a wicked smile decorating her yellowed teeth. Beside her, the werewolf growled, as if in agreement
"You let her go at once" Professor McGonagall cried out, frozen, amoung many others, in the midst of what was clearly a gruesome battle scene
"Sure will, as soon as you lot let us up to the tower" Dolohov tittered with a malicious smirk, standing amongst other fellow death eaters, "we've got some business to attend to up there, see"
"We'd rather you hurl yourself off it instead" Ginny spat hostily
"Oh is that so?" Alecto sneered, beginning to draw blood from Hermione's neck
"Stop that!" Ron yelled, but Alecto just threw her head back in a laugh
"Let us through right now, or you'll be mopping up her filthy blood from these floors and-"

An outcry of disoriented turmoil ensued as Alecto dropped dead to the floor before she could finish her sentence. Every head in the hall turned to the source of the lethal green light, to land on me.

"Was I not invited to the party?" I chided, feigning hurt, "I've missed out on all the fun"
"(Y/n)" Ginny addressed, a shamelessly relieved smile on her face, and I nodded warmly in her direction
"(Y/n)?" Bellatrix exclaimed, wide-eyed
"Hello, mummy dearest" I acknowledged, a hint of a smile on my features
"Wh-what are you doing?" She scolded, livid as I shrugged
"I though it was about time for a little mother-daughter reunion, don't you agree?" I mused, halting the twirling of my wand and pointing it at her in less than a second of a movement, "Impedimenta!"

And once again, the battle resumed. It passed in slow motion, and then all at once. Members of the order lined up beside each other, along with myself and select students from Dumbeldore's army, including Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna, and-was that Fred and George? A crackling orb of light distracted me from being able to clarify the rest of the vaguely familiar faces. Together, a barrier was formed before the entryway to the astronomy tower. I wasn't even told what I was risking my life fighting for. In the rare chance I did get to ponder something in my panicked mind, one question floated to mind-

-where was Draco?

I took down death eater after death eater, they fell to the ground with a sickening crunch that was lost in the rampage. They had the same inky black tattoo, but they weren't him. Where could he have gone? I knew he would come to after I had knocked him out, eventually undoing my locking spell on the cabinet and setting the death eaters free, but why had he not gone with them? He certainly wasn't in the room of requirement any longer, I had checked when I past it. Surely he was somewhere in the castle, he couldn't have-fuck, my jaw hurts. I think I'll lay down for a moment, just until the ringing in my head quiets down

"(Y/n)!" Ginny was yelling at me, from a distance. She was getting closer though, I could tell by the way her voice got progressively louder, "(y/n), please wake up"
"Why are you screaming?" I groaned out as I became lucid again, registering the cold floor underneath me
"(Y/n), Amycus stupefied you" Ginny explained in a rushed manner as I sat up slowly, grimacing at the litter of dead bodies surrounding us, "some of them got past and headed up to the tower, we're going to try to stop them"
"So go with them" I nodded towards the staircase that lead to the tower, "you shouldn't have stayed with me"
"I...I wanted to make sure you were alright" she mumbled sheepishly, making me furrow my brows
"Why?" I asked bluntly, unable to think of anything else to say
"This is the wrong time to be having this conversation, we should-" she rambled, making to turn away
"No, stop that, tell me why" I cut off, acutely confused at her sudden shift in attitude towards me
"Because I like you" she blurted out, a pained look on her features.
