MATURE CONTENT AHEAD
The vivid contour of his bone structure straining against his porcelain skin and gave his sleeping figure a cataclysmic magnetism that revelled wondrously among the stamping of charcoal cast around his eyes. He donned his sleep deprivation like a shattered halo atop the devil's head, and as skeletal as he appeared, the remnants of the breath-stilling, heart-devastating boy lingered.
As I mercilessly tore back the curtains to grant the morning embers of light way into the handsomely embellished study, I turned my head away from the view of the orchard below at the thundering groan
"Morning" I sang out as I took a seat beside the disgruntled boy who was squinting his eyes in protest at the sudden brightness
"It's too early" Draco grumbled as he slumped his head forward and sought to resume his slumber in the cradle of my lap
"Perhaps next time you shouldn't stay up to ungodly hours of the night reading" I scolded softly, scratching his tousled head of hair as I bent forward to observe the books that lay open and scattered across the desk, "did you make any progress, at least?"
"I told you not to worry about it" he reminded, sitting upright with an air of acceptance that he would not succeed in gaining another minute of sleep
"You also told me you'd be back by morning" I noted, and though I masked the tart acid in my mouth, he knew it still
He always knew
And always, he churned it until it crystallised into sugar. He atoned in the only way he thought he could, leaning in to press his lips against mine with a dismal guilt that reverberated loudly inside the quiet of the room
"I'll make it up to you" he whispered gently as he pulled away ever so slightly, lifting my body onto the office desk to hike up my height as to better rival his as he placed another, shorter kiss, "any way I can"
"Good, you can start by cleaning this mess up and meeting me out front" I said cheerily as I dodged his third kiss with a cheeky wink, sliding off the polished wood table and starting towards the door
"Oh no you don't" I heard a low chuckle as I was yanked back by my arm, Draco connecting his wry smirk onto my mouth a third time, "alright, now you may go"
The liberation of the brisk wind whipping past my ears and bringing the fabric of my clothing aflutter was transcendent. Everything was exquisitely trivial from such an elevated worldview, and for a blissful moment the moment stills, time takes a well earned hiatus from its doleful duties. If only for a moment, there was only the thundering of my heartbeat and the adrenaline that pumped beneath my grip and sizzled the ebony fire bolt handle steering my path above the trees. Through the mass of green, I caught a fleeting glimpse of blinding platinum, swiftly plummeting downwards towards the direction of the blonde streak
"Looking a bit rusty, (y/n)" Draco teased as I hovered a foot above the grass in front of him
"So rusty it's almost like I didn't win the Quidditch Cup" I answered as I cocked an eyebrow in smug taunt, shooting my arm out abruptly to steal the golden snitch he was tossing from midair
"It's not nice to take things that aren't yours" he lectured with a roll of his eyes as he made to grab it back but failed, "hand it over"
"Come get it yourself" I challenged, barely catching his amused scoff as I darted off, "shouldn't be too difficult, you know, considering I'm so rusty"
As I neared the billowing clouds, I craned my head behind me to a shot of adrenaline at the sight of the Slytherin boy approaching me rapidly, his sanguine smile extending as I held up a brief gesture of my demur at him before increasing my speed in order to distance myself from him. When he swerved to confront me, I promptly dropped down and under him, presenting him with a triumphant laugh as he started after me again with a groan. His shoulder levelled with my own, his strong arm managing to knock the shimmering ball out of my grasp. We shared a combative look before flying after the winged ball in unison, occasionally knocking ourselves into the other with the hopes of throwing the other off balance. I cursed under my breath as I spotted him inching closer out of the corner of my eye, slender fingers straining to attain hold of the snitch. With a sudden crack of delight, an idea festered in my mind. With my eyes focused determinedly on the gold flutter almost in arms reach, I cocked my head over to brush my lips delicately over Draco's ear, trailing my tongue along the periphery of his ear and planting a quick kiss behind his earlobe as I noticed his breathing hitch and his speed unintentionally slow. When he had revived his senses, my fingers had already closed gloriously on the snitch. I let out a flurry of laughs as his jaw dropped open with a disdainful glare, a clever means of suppressing the pride that shone on his face.
