Azalea's P.O.V
After we had celebrated our escape, we decided to camp for the night. I mean, it was sunset and we had next to no gear, and monsters were going to come out. So we started a fire, and Puffy luckily brought along some fish that she had caught on the way here. So we ate fish and some sweet berries that I had managed to find.
We were all sitting by the fire, just talking, but my mind was else where. I was staring up at the moon, wondering if Techno was staring at the same moon in the sky. God, I missed him. The voices were talking quietly in the back of my head, but too quietly to the point where they were just whispers and I couldn't hear them. I knew they missed him too.
"Z? You good?" a voice shook me out of my thoughts. I turned back and saw everyone staring at me. It seemed that Whirlwind was the one who asked if I was alright. I forced a convincing smile.
"Yep! Just can't wait to get back home." I said, looking down into the flames. They all hummed in agreement, and silences fell over us all.
"So, what are you guys going to do when we officially get out of here?" Whirlwind asked. I could tell that the silences disturbed her, so I didn't mind her making more conversation.
"I'm just going to go back to the ship with Mom. What about you two?" Ora said. Whirlwind ruffled her wings and my tail flicked back and forth, thinking.
"Well, I have a family to get back to. I know Dream made it seem like I was mad at them, but I really miss them." Whirlwind said, looking into the fire. I could tell she was hurting. I got up and moved over to sit next to her. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and she leaned her head on me.
"What about you Z? Got any plans?" Puffy asked, looking at us with some type of emotion that I couldn't put my finger on. It kind of looked like a motherly look, like she was protective of us.
"Well, I uh... yeah, yeah I have some people that I need to see again." I said, trying to be as vague as possible. I didn't want them to suddenly recognize me, if they even did. I knew Puffy knew of my past, but I didn't want my two new friends to think of me badly. But, I knew they didn't.
"Oh, that's cool! Who are these mystery people?" Ora asked, looking up at me with bright eyes. How could I say no to those eyes? They reminded me of Tubbo or Tommy when they want something. You just couldn't say no.
I laughed a little, before contemplating on how I should answer.
"They are my friends." I said, smiling. For the first time, the voices agreed with the term friends to describe all of them. I mean, they had helped me a bunch, and had my back, so I could consider them my friends. Well... most. One was more than a friend.
My smile widened as I thought about how much fun we had before I had to get kidnapped. God, how I missed those chaotic idiots. I looked up and saw Ora and Puffy exchange a look before noticing I was looking their way.
"What about you two? Got any special plans?" I asked, trying to get the spot light off of me.
"Actually, yes." Puffy said. We all gave her a confused look. Ora looked the most confused. Puffy turned towards Ora and smiled widely. "Remember all those years ago how you asked if we could go find your brothers?"
Ora nodded, excitement filling her eyes.
"Well, I thought since now you know that Dream is your older brother, that we could go collect your younger brother." Puffy said, smiling. Ora jumped up and wrapped her arms around her mother.
"Oh my god, yes! Yes, thank you so much!" She screamed. I was happy for her. Then I got confused.
"Wait, how are you going to find him?" I said. I mean, they had no way to track him, so he could be anywhere around the world. And the world is a big place. Ora looked towards her mother and they seemed to share a whole conversation with just their eyes.
Finally, Puffy gave a small nod, and Ora grinned. She came over and squished herself between Whirlwind and I, making us separate. Whirlwind was now leaning against her right shoulder while I was leaning against her left.
She suddenly took her hat off, and Whirlwind and I exchanged a confused look. She reached into the back of her hat, and pulled out a little box with a flashing screen on it from a hidden pocket. My eyes widened. there were five dots on it in total. One was red, another was dark green, one was lime green. There was an emerald dot and a purple dot and they were almost on top of each other.
"This is a tracking system my mom installed for the entire family. See? That's us." Ora explains, then points to the emerald dot and the purple dot. "That's my father." she pointed to the red dot. "That's Dream." She pointed towards the lime green dot that was near us. "And that's my other brother!" She exclaimed, pointing to the last dot, a dark green one that was closer to the red dot than any of the others.
I nodded my head in understanding. I mean, a tracker can be really helpful, especially in the situation we were in just a few hours ago. I'll need to talk to Phil about it when I get back. He might like to have something like that to keep track of all his children, plus more.
"That's really neat!" Whirlwind said, hesitantly taking the little box out of Ora's hand. She studied it, before realization hit her face.
"Um, does the red dot happen to reside in L'manberg?" She asked. Ora and Puffy exchanged another look, before Puffy nodded. Hope light up Whirlwind's eyes.
"Could you maybe take us to L'manberg? My family lives around there last time I knew." She asked, looking pleadingly at Puffy. Puffy took out her own tracker, and studied it for a moment. She smiled.
"Sure, you can tag along. What about you, Z?" She asked, turning towards me. Wait... L'manberg was the city by Phil's house. If they could get me there, then I could get back to the people I loved. I smiled really wide.
"Could I also tag along? My friends live near there as well." I said, hoping that she would say yes. She smiled at me, then nodded. Yes! I was going home!
"Alright kids, I think it's time we get to bed. We have a long journey ahead of us." Puffy said, laying her head down on a rock and putting her hat in front of her face. Ora would do the same with her hat whenever she slept. We all nodded, and everyone settled down.
Well, except for me. I lay awake, tossing on the dirt bed that I had made. I just couldn't sleep. Finally, after what felt like eternity, but was only like an hour, I got up and looked around. There was a really tall tree nearby. I grinned.
Silently, I climbed the tree until I was almost at the top. I settled down on a sturdy branch, and looked up towards the moon, watching as it went along its path. I smiled. It's nice to know that whatever bad shit happens in life, the sun and moon will continue to rise and set. It was the little normal in a world full of chaos.
I leaned my head back on the trunk, and closed my eyes, letting the tired feeling finally envelop me. I sighed and fell asleep, thinking on how I was going home.
How I was going home.
