Chapter 31: Where's Kaito Kid?

Y/n's POV
"See you tomorrow, Haibara!" I beamed, waving at Haibara as we parted ways

I heard Conan grumble as he put his hands behind his back. I looked at him and noticed an annoyed look on his face.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked looking at him

"You and that evil-eyed yawny girl seem to be getting along pretty well." Conan growled

"Evil-eyed yawny girl?" I questioned, "You mean Haibara-?" I laughed at the nickname he gave Haibara

"Yeah! You two seem to know each other since birth."

"Aww. Are you jealous~." I said jokingly with a teasing tone

"Of course I am!"

My cheeks turned slightly red at his response. Was he really jealous?

"She took my best friend!"

I frowned but looked away from his gaze. Of course he didn't mean it that way. Why would he..

"I thought Ran was your best friend. You told me you two knew each other since childhood.."

"She is. But what can I say? You're more calm than Ran." He laughed

I chuckled a bit. At least I had a best friend. Back then, only Aoko was my friend but we again had to switch schools. But...why did my chest ache when he said that...

"Ran-neechan! We're home!" Conan yelled opening the door for me

"Welcome back!" Ran yelled back

We set our bags in front of the door and Ran came out of her room.

"I have to go for a bit with Oto-san. Can you two watch the house while I'm gone, please." Ran asked putting her shoes on

"Where are you going?" I asked with a raised brow

"Just an investigation that Oto-san need help with. I'll be back soon. Bye!" Ran waved and closed the door as she left

We stayed in silence before Conan's stomach growled in hunger making me suddenly laugh.

"O-oi! Stop laughing!" Conan stuttered making me laugh even more

"I'll see if Ran made some food." I said in between my laughs

I walked in the kitchen and opened the fridge. I checked the fridge but didn't find anything. I checked the microwave, cabinets, and the counters but didn't find anything either.

"Bad news!" I shouted for Conan to hear me, "Ran forgot to cook us food."

Conan ran into the kitchen as soon as I said that. "You're kidding right?"

"Does it looks like I am?" I questioned sitting on top of the counter

"What are we going to eat now??" He whined falling to the floor dramatically

"It's fine~. I can just cook some food." I said jumping off the counter and grabbing a stool

"You can cook?!"

"Yeah? Don't you know how to cook?"

Conan let out an awkward laugh as he scratched the back of his head. "About that...Ran would come to my house and cook for me."

A sweat dropped from my cheek. He reminds me much like my brother. Kaito can't cook as well, I have to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

"Jeez...you're hopeless." I sighed grabbing the apron, "What do you want to eat?"
